How to paint a crib

When painting a crib it is important to give preference to materials with the safest structure. It is better to stop the choice on paints with a water basis. Their structure does not contain toxic substances and is safe for the growing organism.

Types of safe paints

Paints just for decoration water-based are acrylic and acrylate. Aqueous emulsion inks, nitropaints and water-based varnishes too not bad are suitable for use in children's rooms. However it is better to stop the choice on the paints giving a glossy covering as opaque has tendency quicker to be soiled. Besides, it is washed with great difficulty.

There are special paints which are used in coloring of children's toys. If very high cost does not frighten, it is possible to find and use them.

Characteristics of suitable paints

Water-based acrylic paints are the optimum choice as are absolutely harmless, simple in work and have the richest color palette. To their advantages it is possible to refer as well wear resistance, the good covering ability and endurance to mechanical damages, resistance to attrition. Acrylic paint does not evaporate and in work does not emit hazardous substances. In the sun the painted surface does not burn out and keeps the decorative properties within 5-10 years. The dense and smooth structure created on a furniture surface by such paints without prejudice to itself maintains numerous damp cleaning. The lack of acrylic paints can be considered their high cost. Acrylate coverings differ in good resistance to attrition, but also high elasticity and vapor permeability too. The equal and ideally smooth covering created by them on a bed surface will be not only it is strong and beautiful, but also it is absolutely safe for health. It is possible to refer fragility to shortcomings of such covering, however it can be washed and cleaned accurately. Aqueous emulsion inks are remarkable option for all those who for some reason did not suit options with use of acrylic and acrylate. This paint is short-lived and is easily used up, but is absolutely safe, does not contain any toxic substances. Water-based Lucky and nitropaint are quite good option if near at hand there is nothing any more. They rather resistant and the covering created by them strong. Such coverings belong to fireproof. The appearance of the furniture painted by these structures is faultless. Shortcomings can be considered fragility together with the high price.

Coloring process

There is nothing difficult in independent painting of children's furniture if to approach this question with all responsibility. It is better to make coloring at least in a week prior to use of a bed to manage to reveal and eliminate defects which can appear after paint drying. If paint began to bubble and lag behind layers after drying, the surface should be smoothed out anew a skin, to degrease solvent and to paint once again. For work two brushes - big flat and small round will be enough. The big brush is applied on wide legs, a back and sides, and the prokrashivaniye of rods and hard-to-reach spots requires a small round brush with the long handle. When coloring you should not gather on a brush a lot of paint at once - surpluses will long dry and coupling with a surface at a thick layer is worse. More qualitative painting by several thin layers, than one thick.
