1. Take the sheet of cardboard or paper. Put on it the child (in socks).
2. Circle with a pencil a contour of both feet.
3. Draw a line from the most acting heel point to a thumb contour. Make such drawing for both feet and measure length of the received straight line in each drawing.
4. If lengths of the left and right feet were different, choose that which is more. Thus, you determined the footwear size in the metric system (unit of measure is the millimeter). The interval between each subsequent size makes 5 mm.
5. For determination of the sizes of import footwear the so-called shtikhmassovy system with unit of measure - Stich is accepted (1 Stich is equal 6.67 mm or 0.67 cm). Producers do still the so-called decorative allowance equal to about 1 cm. Thus, the footwear size in a strikhmassovy system can be determined as follows: (length of foot of the child (in cm) + a decorative allowance (1 cm)) / 0.67 cm. In each shoe store there are ready tables of the translation of one system of measurement in another therefore for the choice of children's footwear it is enough to parents to know length of foot of the kid, and it is better to have with themselves the cut-out foot curve.
6. Having chosen model, enclose a curve in a boot or a shoe. If the sizes coincided, it is possible to start directly fitting.
7. Put on footwear both legs of the child and put him on a floor.
8. Between fingers of the child and a toe of footwear there has to be a stock of 1 cm. It is necessary as for summer footwear, on a case if legs swell a little from a heat, and for winter that legs did not freeze. For definition of this stock try to implant the little finger between a heel of the child and a back of a boot. Thickness of a little finger of the adult is just equal to about 1 cm.
