The child of preschool age hardly operates with abstract concepts because of feature of thinking, and it at it evident and figurative. Time - a concept abstract. It cannot be seen and felt. But even the kid should learn to plan independently personal time and in it to be guided.

1. Begin training of time with the simplest for the preschool child – from the sequence of events. It is easy to make it in the course of the everyday classes and games. The child notices that after evening there comes night, and we get up in the morning and we go to kindergarten. At the kid the first idea of time, as about some sequence of events begins to be formed. Fix these representations, and for this purpose draw the attention of the child to any sequence of events.
2. Further it is necessary to acquaint with concepts "soon", "now", "then", "at first", "after that", "before" and other concepts which are connected eventually. Playing and communicating with the child, comment on the actions words: "At first it is necessary to remove toys, and then we will sit down to have dinner", "At first we will draw a circle, then a triangle". With the same purpose use pictures on which the consecutive phenomena or events are represented: development and growth of an animal or a plant, the sequence of production something (at first the base, then the floor, then I rat). Tell the kid about what is drawn, and then ask to tell him that at first and that then.
3. Play with the child of the fairy tale after joint reading. It is possible to use at the same time toys and to watch that he did not mix a mode of operation. For playing of a plot it is also possible to buy thin books with fairy tales, to cut out illustrations, to paste them on cardboard and to spread in the necessary sequence.
4. Further develop understanding of seasons at the child. It is necessary to explain to it clearly all changes happening to the nature and weather in each season. For this purpose it is necessary to go outside, show to the kid and to observe what happens to trees, a grass, the sky in what people are dressed. Take the picture of some place on the street at different times year, and it is possible even every month and compare them among themselves.
5. Acquire educational books which will also help the child to get acquainted with seasons closer. Read the story by V. Bianki "Sinichkin the calendar" and the fairy tale "Twelve Months".
6. Acquire for classes with the kid the calendar which all year is placed on one leaf. So he will be able visually to see all year, months and days. The ratio between different parts of year is very well visible on such calendar: it is less than a month or year, is more than a week or month. Begin to be engaged with the calendar at any moment of a year, but it is better from the very beginning. Upon its purchase pay the attention to that inscriptions and figures were large, were located on a surface of one tone, but not against the background of the picture or the photo that they did not distract the kid. It is desirable that days of the week were written by the whole words, but not reductions. Hang up the new calendar in a corridor, in the room of the child, or in kitchen. 7. Begin acquaintance further with hours. For this purpose pick up the big toy clock at which shooters and also with big and accurate figures easily move. Tell about purpose of arrows. Show to the child at first exactly an hour, then it is slightly less than an hour, hour and a half, around three. When the kid masters an hour hand, begin acquaintance with minute.
