Pelvic presentation - why the child does not turn over

The head of the kid is born the first and paves the way to a trunk. In rare instances there are situations when the child before childbirth is developed by other parts of a body to an entrance to a small pelvis, and there is pelvic presentation.

What is the pelvic presentation?

Pelvic presentation call position of the child in mother's womb buttocks or legs down. The doctor can probe such position of the child through the lower part of a uterus. There are two types of pelvic sublying: buttock and foot.

At buttock sublying the child is developed to an entrance to a small pelvis by buttocks, at the same time his legs are bent in a coxofemoral joint and extended along a trunk. Also there can be mixed buttock presentation at which not only buttocks, but also legs are located to an exit from a uterus.

Foot presentation of the child can be incomplete and full. At full pelvic presentation to an entrance to a small pelvis both legs of the kid are located. If presentation incomplete, then only one leg unbent in joints is located directly at an exit from a uterus, and the second, bent in a coxofemoral joint, settles down above. Variations of pelvic presentation depend on position of the child in a uterus. If the child is developed by the bent knees, then there is knee pelvic presentation. Having developed in a uterus across, the shoulder of the child adjoins to an exit from a uterus, creating humeral presentation.

Reasons of pelvic presentation

Premature birth is the most obvious reason of pelvic presentation. On term up to 36 weeks the child was not ready to be born yet and therefore did not turn over. Also, if future mom expects not one baby, but several, the probability of pelvic presentation is very high. Often, one of twins occupies the correct head presentation, and here another can be developed. A large or small amount of amniotic waters can provoke foot or buttock presentation. When waters are not enough, to the child in a uterus it becomes too close, and he cannot turn over. And in case there is a lot of waters, he just begins to swim in them and does not manage to reach necessary position in time. If the organism of the woman did not manage to be restored after the previous childbirth, then muscles of a uterus can not cope with movements of the child and will not be able to record it in the necessary situation. In 80% of pelvic presentation it is very difficult to gynecologists to define its reason. There is it only at 5 women from 100.

What dangerously pelvic presentation?

The modern medicine proved that there is no serious danger at pelvic presentation. Certainly, natural childbirth takes place at the same time a little more difficult, but it practically does not affect health of mother and child in any way. The most widespread danger arising at pelvic presentation – a zaprokidyvaniye of handles of the child. But there is it in case of the wrong carrying out an obstetric grant. Childbirth has to take place most naturally not to do much harm to the child.
