It is considered one of the children of anthelminthic medicines who are most often used at treatment by Pirantel. This means suppresses activity and promotes removal from an organism of the majority of species of worms. It is impossible to give to the child of Pirantel in the preventive purposes at all. Getting to the child's organism, Pirantel literally will paralyze the helminths which are present at it and promotes their fastest removal with stool.
Perniciously medicine affects only adult parasites and those worms which did not reach puberty yet. The larvae of helminths which are in a migration stage are not sensitive to Pirantela active agents.
Medicine is allowed for use for treatment of the children who reached six-month age and is more senior. The basis for reception of Pirantel is the medical prescription, attentively examined child and who made sure of presence at its organism of helminths. Medicine possesses a broad spectrum of activity and is applied to treatment such a disease as enterobioz – infection with pinworms, askaridoz – presence at an organism of ascarids, nekatoroz – parasitizing in intestines of a worm-nekatora, ankilostomidoz – infection with roundworms – hookworms.
Definition of a dosage of the medicine "Pirantel" is influenced by age of the child, his body weight, a type and severity of a disease. It is possible to give medicine to the kid at any time, irrespective of meal. Medicine is produced in the form of suspension and tablets.
For treatment of an enterobioz or an askaridoz at the child the dosage of medicine is defined at the rate of 10-12 mg of means on 1 kg of body weight of the patient. For example, if the kid weighs 10 kg, optimum amount of medicine for it – 125 mg. The dosage for the kid aged from 6 up to 24 months, as a rule, makes 1/2 applied to Pirantel of a measured spoon. Children from 2 to 6 years are given the whole measured spoon of medicine. The child infected with worms aged from 6 up to 12 years can give 1-2 measured spoons of suspension or 1-2 tablets "Pirantela", depending on build of the patient. The dosage for children over 12 years makes 3 tablets or 3 measured spoons of suspension. It is necessary to take the drug at infection with pinworms or ascarids once. Treatment of an ankilostomidoz takes place according to the same scheme, with use of the same dosages, only duration it has to be 3 days. Treatment of a nekatoroz at children the medicine "Pirantel" lasts 2 days, and the dosage is defined at the rate of 20 mg of medicine on 10 kg of body weights of the kid infected with helminths. To the child aged from 6 months up to 2 years appoint 1 measured spoon of Pirantela suspension, children are from 2 to 6 years old – 2 measured spoons, children are from 6 to 12 years old – 2-4 spoons of suspension or the same quantity of tablets. The dosage for the child is more senior than 12 years makes 6 tablets or 6 measured spoons of protivogelmintny medicine.
It is not recommended after intake of medicine and also along with it, to give to the child laxative or other protivogelmintny means, in order to avoid strengthening of toxicity of the active agents which are contained in them.
Means is contraindicated to children with diseases of a liver and intolerance of the components which are contained in it. Side effects of reception of Pirantel are observed very seldom. Treat them: slight dizziness, nausea, diarrhea, skin rash, temperature increase of a body, drowsiness, or on the contrary, insomnia.
