What the only child takes from the family relations
One of the main mistakes in education of the only child in family – the aspiration to surround it with excessive care and to protect from any troubles. Despite initially good intentions, such situation has a number of sad consequences. And the child is future adult who will need to be able to exist in this world independently.
Inadequate extent of guardianship leads to formation at the child of the learned helplessness when he lowers hands before the slightest difficulty. Then parents readily come to the rescue, without leaving to the child of an opportunity to consider a situation independently.
Having matured, such person parasitizes on more strong and independent personalities. He transfers to them all responsibility for own life because is not able to exist in a different way. Often such people are whimsical and exacting because they got used to the privileged position in family.
The only children often become skillful manipulators, deriving benefit from the situation.
Sometimes at teenage age such children begin to protest against inadequate care that in a root changes a situation. It stimulates development of the frontal lobes which are responsible for skills of planning and forecasting. In this case the child has every chance to enter adulthood the person adapted for independent life.
Features of social adaptation
Fear for the only child can lead to his social isolation. Parents will prefer to leave the child in a zone of the reach, than to send to walk with peers. For diffident children it is especially fatal mistake which can make them derelicts in children's collective. Without having gained skills of communication with other children in time, such child and itself begins to avoid further interaction. At adult age the bad socialization brings serious problems. The modern world demands sociability and knowledge of human psychology, the victim of social isolation does not own it and often is afraid to try.
Expectations of parents of rather only child are often overestimated. They induce it to be in everything the best. After it the person all life will inadequately perceive failures, feeling guilty for discrepancy with expectations.
Stay mainly stimulates early speech development in a circle of adults, the lexicon is often saturated concepts difficult beyond the years. This fact influences intellectual development in principle. Often such children have many creative hobbies, and at adult age choose a creative profession.
