Most of parents are afraid of awkward age at children. There are stereotypes that this period has to be surely connected with a set of problems which become the causes of quarrels, scandals and rash acts. However you should not generalize all people in this case. The awkward age comes not in strictly certain age and passes at everyone individually.
What is awkward age
In a broad sense the awkward age is the moment of transformation of the child into the teenager. From the psychological point of view this period is defined as the aspiration of the child to master adulthood, desire to be the most independent of parents and to take a certain place in society.
The awkward age is connected and with the juicy moment – during this period the teenager reaches puberty. Most often this fact becomes the reason of constant experiences and according to the conflicts with surrounding with people.
Awkward age at girls
At girls the awkward age begins for several years earlier, than at boys. Puberty at them is expressed in approach of periods and change of proportions of a body. At the same time there are also psychological reorganizations of an organism. At girls the period of puberty lasts only one-two years, and at boys can drag on even for five years. Girls during awkward age begin to treat the appearance crucially. It is caused not only by traditional appearance of eels who deliver a lot of discomfort, but also feeling of one-way love. The awkward age at girls comes, as a rule, from 10 to 14 years. However there are also exceptions which concern not only age of approach of puberty, but also behavior of girls. Some young women feel the real delight from process of increase in a breast or rounding of hips.
Awkward age at boys
At boys the awkward age comes, as a rule, during the period from 12 to 20 years. Most often it is noted in 14-18 years. The change in an organism, most unusual to the teenager, is formation of sexual functions. Production of characteristic chemicals can be followed by sharp differences mood and also sudden attacks of aggression. The boy does not understand what happens to him, and takes all changes too painfully. Some teenagers cannot cope with the sexual desire that brings them feeling of discomfort.

Irrespective of at what age there is an awkward age, most often it becomes the reason of numerous problems. The child almost constantly is in the angry state. The task of parents is to give the maximum support and to try to distract the teenager from problems. Talk to the child more, but do not try to make psychological impact or pressure. Otherwise can reach that your child will decide to leave the house in search of adulthood. Such act will turn back serious troubles. Do not think that all children during awkward age become uncontrollable and problem. Quite often there are cases when parents do not even notice this period.
