Whether it is worth teaching the child to float

The summer, ahead fascinating trip to the sea begins, and many parents are interested in a question when it is possible to teach the child to float and whether it is worth doing it.

According to experienced trainers, it is possible to train children in swimming not earlier, than from 4 – 6 years and that, only when you well know how to make it. To children of younger age enough simple games in water with use of various inflatable supporting means. The most important that water caused only positive emotions in the child. The inept attempt of training in swimming can lead to the fact that the kid will be frightened, and subsequently it will be impossible to train it in swimming.

If your child is already 4 years old, and he with pleasure laps in water, try to teach him to lie on a back, acquaint with properties of water. If you are going to train further it in swimming, then it is necessary to forget about rubber rings already. The fact is that the circle keeps the child in vertical position, and swimming requires horizontal position. Oversleeves, an inflatable belt or a collar, that is, any means which will allow the child to lie on water freely will become successful replacement to a circle.

The age of six or seven years is the most favorable to start training. The child is already capable to listen attentively to the trainer and to execute everything that he tells. At this age there is and, so-called, "a feeling of water" without which serious training in swimming is impossible.

If you are going to send the kid to sports school, then well think whether it is worth doing it: professional swimming can affect not in the best way health of the child, having caused a number of serious diseases. And here simple bathing in the pool or the sea, without pursuit of any results, will bring only benefit.

In case the child is afraid, do not force it to go, by no means, to water, you do not drag there violently, do not throw into a reservoir. After similar actions the child will be afraid of water even more and to you will lose trust. Do not laugh at the kid and do not compare him to other children, do not discuss at the child his "cowardice" with anyone.

Come into water, show to the kid as it is pleasant to you, play with him on a shallow: gradually he will understand that in water there is nothing terrible. Be patient and do not try to accelerate events – the child will surely overcome the fear.

Sometimes, as a result of inept actions, the children's fear develops into a phobia. In this case do not try to cope with a problem independently: you need consultation of the expert.
