Adding of friends in Steam is made for message exchange, participation in competitions among friends, joint playing games and exchange of gifts via the interface of service. For adding of new contact in the client you can use in several ways.
Instruction
1. Start the Steam program in a system and enter your login and the password for access. After loading of the utility select the Friends tab - "Add the friend" in a top panel of tools.
2. The application will demand to enter a game nickname of the user of service which you want to add, or the name specified by it at registration. Best of all to specify the login of the friend as search by a game nickname often is not successful because of a large number of the registered users in search options. In the list of results select a suitable position and send append query in a leaf of contacts.
3. If at you it is not installed any game Steam yet, in attempt of search of friends to you the message about need to buy any application in shop will be highlighted. In that case you will be able to add the necessary person through the account on the official site of Steam. Open the browser and pass to Steamcommunity service. If necessary press the Enter button in the right top part of the screen and enter your login or the password for execution of an input.
4. After that pass into the section "Your Account" - "Profile". Copy the address of the loaded page from a top line of the browser, having clicked with the right mouse button and having selected "Copy". This address is the link to your account in Steam.
5. Contact your friend and send the copied link to your profile. The friend will need to insert the link into an address bar of the browser, to log in to the account, and then to select the link "Add as a Friend" on the page of your profile. After that the nickname of the friend will be displayed both on the control panel of the website, and in the corresponding menu item of the program.
6. To approve append query in friends from other users, in a window of the client of Steam pass into point "Community" - "Invitations". You can also use the Friends tab to contact other contacts and to look at their network status.
