ADSL is a technology which turns the analog signal transmitted on telephone lines into digital. The ADSL modem allows to use at the same time both phone, and high-speed connection to the Internet.
Instruction
1. Connect a telephone line to the splitter Line connector. To the Phone connector connect phone, to the Modem connector – the ADSL modem. The splitter separates a signal in a telephone line into normal telephone and high-frequency modem and protects the telephone set from HF of signals. If in your house there are other telephone sets, connect them to a telephone line via microfilters. Check whether phone works.
2. Connect the ADSL modem, in a zavismost from its type, or to the connector of the network adapter, or to USB. Near the connector of the network interface card the indicator, usually green color should start blinking. To the slot of Power on the back panel of the modem connect the power supply. Turn on the power supply in the power supply network.
3. Start any browser and enter into an address bar 198.162.1.1 for an entrance to settings of the ADSL modem. In the appeared dialog box it is required to enter the login and the password. These values are specified in the user guide in a delivery set, and "admin", "admin", as a rule, are equal.
4. Find menu items in which values of the parameters Mode, VPI, VCI are defined. By default the modem is configured for work in the Bridge mode ("Bridge"), VPI=0, VCI=35. Your provider should provide you data for setup of the ADSL modem.
5. Come into "Control panel" from the Start menu and open the icon "Network connections". Select "Creation of new connection" and click "Further". Note the Connect to the Internet point and continue work, having clicked "Further".
6. Put the switch in the position "Establish Connection Manually" and order "Further". Select the Through the High-speed Connection Requesting a Name and the Password item and press "Further". In a new window enter a name of new high-speed connection and continue work, having clicked "Further".
7. In the Account Details dialog box enter the login and the password which to you were issued by provider in the respective fields. Confirm the password and click "Further" for completion of installation.
8. In the last window note a checkbox the Add a Connection Label on a Desktop point and click "Is ready". The window of connection to the Internet will appear. Click "Connection". If all of you made correctly, connection will take place successfully.
