The Start-up menu is one of the most important tools to start work in Windows operating system family. Through this menu it is possible to use both standard (system) programs, and the installed users, by means of several ""clicks"" of a mouse it is possible to pass to all main settings of a system and the user files (to music, filmy, to games, etc.).
Instruction
1. As the Start-up menu is the main tool for work in a system, system builders enclosed in it a wide range of functions: search of files, folder list, control panel, completion of work with the computer, etc. But this situation is not always convenient for users because not all use these standard functions preventing to find quickly what is necessary.
2. For the system administrator servicing a set of computers there is a need to strongly cut down functionality of the Start-up menu, and in certain cases and to block completely. For these purposes there are two main solutions: configure ""Start-up"" by means of the system registry (it is the hierarchical database of all possible settings of the Windows system - hardware and the software, a system, an interfes, user profiles, etc.) or by means of third-party utilities (XP Tweaker, Reg Organizer, MagicTweak, etc.).
3. Setup of the Start-up menu by means of the third-party utilities given above is very simple. It is necessary to install and start only the program, to select necessary changes and to confirm them. Most likely it is necessary to reboot that the entered changes in the system registry became effective.
4. The first option (setup of the register manually) is suitable for the most experienced users confident in the forces. For modification it is necessary to pass into the Start-up menu, to select the Implement clause and to enter the Regedit command which will lead directly to settings of the system registry after that it will be possible to change the necessary parameters (it is necessary to make the copy of the system registry by means of a menu item ""File""-> ""Import"", it can help you to restore a system in case of any failures).
5. Removal of the Execute point and removal of the All Programs point can be an example of operations over the register. For transition to the system registry it is necessary to perform the above operations and to pass into the section HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplîrer, in this section to create SWORD NoRun parameter and to set value 1, now the Implement clause it will not be displayed in the menu. For shutdown of a menu item ""All programs"" it is necessary to perform similar operations: open the section HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesExplîrer, create DWORD NoStartMenuMorePrograms parameter and expose value 1.
6. Thus it is possible to configure not only the Start menu, but also other opportunities of a system. In most cases it is not necessary to disconnect the Start-up menu, and only to cut down its functionality.
