Instruction
1. In the Windows operating system there is a built-in firewall, but its opportunities are very limited therefore it is better to use the program from third-party vendor. One of the best programs of this type is Outpost Firewall.
2. Before setup open a main window of the program. Select "Parameters" – "System", then find the section "Global Rules and Access to Rawsocket" in the lower part of a tab and click in it "Rules".
3. In the opened window click "Add". In the field of "Select an Event for the Rule" note birdies the Where Protocol, Where Direction and Where Local Port points. Below, in the field "Description of the Rule", select by a mouse "It is not defined" in the line "Where Protocol" and select the TSR protocol in the opened window.
4. In the field "Description of the Rule" click by a mouse "It is not defined" in the line "Where Direction", select the Entering (from the Remote Computer on Your Computer) item in connection type. In the same field click "It is not defined" in the line "Where Local Port" and enter the port number which needs to be closed.
5. In the field of "Select Actions for the Rule" note a birdie "Block these data". Click "OK" - the selected port is closed for incoming connections. You can close it and for outgoing, having selected in described proceeding – "Proceeding (from your computer on the remote computer)" is slightly higher settings instead of incoming connection.
6. If you use a regular fayervol of Windows, check the list of exceptions: "Start-up" – "Control panel" – "Windows Firewall" – "Exceptions". Remove a birdie from "The removed assistant" if you do not use him. You can prohibit in general exceptions, having put a birdie on the General tab in the line "Not Resolve an Exception".
7. Fayervol in Windows 7 has more opportunities, than in Windows XP, he can be used for control of both certain ports, and the set ranges. Create the rule for outgoing connections, at start of the master of creation of the rule select the All Programs item. Click "Further", in the opened window select "Block connections". Again click "Further", select a profile and enter the rule name. Then specify ports which the firewall should block in properties of the rule. It is in the same way created and governed for the entering connections.
