Sometimes for stable work of a local area network it is necessary to use the constant IP addresses. It is especially relevant when a large number of public peripheral devices is a part of network.
Instruction
1. Turn on the computer and open the Start menu. Guide the cursor at the Network Connections point and click the column "Display All Connections". Select an icon of the network interface card for which it is necessary to install the static IP address. Pass to properties of this adapter.
2. Click with the left mouse button the Internet Protocol of TCP/IP point and click "Configure". After opening of the new menu select the Use the Following IP Address point. In the first field enter the IP value assigned to this network adapter. Key Tab and look at value of a subnet mask. It should be identical for all computers of your network.
3. If there is a need to configure connection of network PCs to the Internet, fill The Preferred DNS Server and Main Gateway fields. Enter into them the address of the router or computer which is connected to the Internet directly. Click "Apply". Close the menu of settings and wait for update of network settings.
4. Perform tuning of network adapters of other computers. Use the values of the IP addresses matching the first three segments. I.e. the IP format should look as follows: 100.100.100.XYZ. Do not use the identical IP addresses not to cause a malfunction in network functioning. Check every time value of a subnet mask. It should be identical to all network interface cards.
5. If the devices capable to distribute the IP addresses, for example routers or switches then are a part of network change parameters of their work. Open the web interface of settings of the necessary equipment. Pass into the LAN menu. Find the DHCP point and turn off this function.
6. Surely reboot the device after introduction of new parameters. Sometimes for this purpose it is necessary to disconnect the equipment from the alternating current main for some time.
