It is difficult to present the modern computer without stable and correct connection to the Internet – the owner of the computer who does not have access to the network feels the mass of discomfort and therefore if you have a computer which is not connected to network you can easily correct this situation. Setup of the Internet in the Windows XP operating system is rather simple and also it allows not only to connect one computer to the Internet, but also to integrate at once several computers in a local area network.
Instruction
1. For connection to network the computer should be equipped with the network interface card. If you want to connect some more machines to the computer, on it the second network interface card should be installed.
2. Configure the Internet, being in the account of the administrator. Open Start-up and come into the control panel. Then open the section "Network and Connections to the Internet". In the opened window select the section "Network Connections". Select the necessary connection from the list and right-click on it, and then select properties.
3. In a properties window open In the addition tab and check the General Access to Connection of the Internet tab at the line "Allow Other Net Surfers to Use Connection to the Internet from This Computer". Also install a tick at the line "Install a Call on Demand". Confirm all changes.
4. To your network interface card local IP address 192.168.0.1 and also a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 will be assigned.
To connect any other computer united in network with a server computer to the Internet, configure it, having entered through the account of the administrator.
5. In the control panel of the second computer open the section of network connections and right-click on connection on a local area network to cause properties.
6. In properties open the General tab and then cause properties of the internet protocol TCP/IP. Set Receive the IP Address Automatically value, click OK. Also you can install the IP address manually – if the address of the main computer 192.168.0.1, then the address of the second computer will be the following - 192.168.0.2. Click OK and close the control panel.
7. Also for connection to network you can start the automatic master of connection to the Internet who is available in the section of network connections in the control panel.
