The vendor of TP-Link releases routers of different modifications therefore names of connectors for connection and commands of the program menu can change depending on model or the version of a firmware. In general, control interface of the software of the router quite simple and clear.
Login to the control panel of the router
For a login to the menu of settings it is necessary to connect the router to the computer through port of local LAN connection by means of the network cable with the connector RJ-45. The connector is located on a back wall of the router and can or have digital designation, or to be signed with LAN. Usually such connectors are colored in yellow or orange color. After connection of a cable to the router, the last needs to be included in network and to wait for stable operation of the sense light of power.
It is necessary to enter the device IP address into an address bar of the browser: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, depending on the version of a firmware. In the opened window it is necessary to enter these authorizations set by default. The login admin and the password admin are used in the majority of models. After an input it is possible to see the main menu located in the left part of the screen. In it it is necessary to select the System Tools item and in a drop-down list to click Password. In the opened window it is necessary to make change of the standard password, then to click Save for saving changes.
Setup of connection to the Internet
The Internet cable needs to be connected to the WAN or Internet connector on a back wall of the router then it is possible to pass to setup of parameters. At menu selection of the Network and click on the WAN element the window for input of parameters of Internet connection will open. Values of parameters need to be specified at provider. After input of parameters they will be required to be saved. Further it is necessary to click in the same Network point MAC Clone, to click Clone MAC Adress and to save changes.
Parameters of wireless connection
In a tab of the Wireless menu it is necessary to select the Wireless Settings item. In the opened window it will be required to fill empty fields and to set values for some parameters. For example, Wireless Network Name - a desirable name of a wireless network. In a drop-down list of Region it is necessary to select the country of placement, and for the Channel parameter to set Auto value. Values the others of parameters it is possible it is possible to leave set by default.
For a security setting of wireless connection it is necessary to select Wireless security menu item. In the opened window it is necessary to install type of the protocol of safety, having switched the toggle-switch to provision WPA/WPA2, then to set security settings:
- for Version (protocol type) to set WPA2-PSK value;
- for the Encryption parameter (encryption type) to set TKIP value;
- in the PSK Password field to enter the security key of network consisting of eight characters.
After modification it is necessary to save settings, then in the System Tools tab to select the Reboot item, and in the opened window to click with the same name, thereby having rebooted the router.
