Wi-fi – a way of wireless connection to the Internet. Access points of wi-fi will organize in cafe, restaurants, offices, educational institutions, libraries and other public institutions. This way it is possible to organize also a home computer network.
Instruction
1. Pay attention to the lower left part of the screen of the laptop or the desktop computer. If you are in an area of coverage of wi-fi network, on the bottom panel of a desktop should become bright and begin to flicker an activation icon.
2. Connection to a free wireless network, as a rule, is automatic. If it did not occur, click on an icon of connection and you will select the Wireless networks item in the opened menu. On the screen there has to be a list of the wireless networks which are in a zone of access of your computer. The majority of wi-fi of connections is password-protected, opposite to them there can be an image of a key. Loose connections are noted by letter F.
3. Click a line with the name of any given network. If necessary enter the password, of course, if it is known to you. Some cafes, bars and restaurants issue the password of access to wi-fi to visitors only after they make the order. Even in libraries and the airports sometimes Internet access is password-protected to reduce number of unauthorized connections and to lower traffic. In this case you need to ask for the help any of the staff of institution.
4. If you managed to be connected successfully to the Internet through wireless connection, but you cannot enter an on-line game or contact someone via Skype, then just try to start the browser. Most likely, in a window of the browser information on prices of Internet access and payment methods will appear. Such practice exists in hotels and holiday houses.
5. There is no need to be turned off specially from wi-fi network. Separation will be automatic when your laptop leaves a coverage of wireless connection. You can turn off wi-fi manually, having clicked an icon of wireless connection and having selected the Be disconnected button.
