Name the proxy server the intermediate server serving for delivery of request of the user to the final server. The Proxy-server is usually used for increase in speed of net surfing or its anonymization.
Instruction
1. Make sure that the difference of the existing types of proxy servers is clear: - Proxy HTTP - the most widespread type of the server compatible to all browsers and maintaining functionality of web applications; - The proxy Socks which is subdivided according to versions of the protocol into Socks5 and Socks4, - conceived for support of all UDP and TCP/IP protocols, but not compatible to some Internet-applications (are generally used by IRC clients and web pagers); - Proxy CGI - are a web resource and work only with browser programs; - Proxy FTP - is applied in corporate networks with access restriction in the Internet a firewall.
2. Make sure that the difference in possible use of these types of proxy servers according to their features is clear: - transparent, or transparent, - the final server of request can see the used proxy and the IP address of the computer; - distorting - the final server receives the dummy, distorted address; - the anonymizer - provides safe surfing.
3. Define the selected proxy server, having used specialized services proxy checker, or use the following visual differences: - Proxy CGI - the normal web page where not word meanings for search, and the URL addresses are used; - Proxy HTTP - are the server name and the port number separated by a colon: www.server.com: xxxx; - Proxy Socks - looks as well as HTTP, but with port numbers 1080 or 1081 (proxy HTTP in most cases has ports with numbers 80, 81, 8080 or 3128); - Proxy HTTPS - one of types of HTTP cannot be also defined visually (use of specialized service proxy checker is necessary).
4. Configure the browser of dl of work with the proxy server - open the menu "Service" (for Internet Explorer) and pass into the Internet Options point. Go to the Connections tab of the opened dialog box and use the Setup of Network button. Apply a checkbox in the field "Be connected to the Internet via the proxy server" and enter values of a name and port in the respective fields. Confirm application of the selected changes with clicking of the OK button (for Internet Explorer).
