How to edit subtitles

Did you sometime when watching movies notice often appearing text analog the delivered speech? Such analogs are subtitles. They are used for display of a translated text or the text of original language of the movie. The majority of mediaplayers and media combines have the built-in support of subtitles of any level. Some videoplayers are supplied with utilities on work with subtitles (creation or editing).

It is required to you

  • Software of DSRT.

Instruction

1. You need the DSRT program. It is intended for work with SRT scripts (the files containing the text of subtitles). Also this program has the converter of formats, i.e. subtitles can be saved in any format of the subtitles existing today. As a player of DSRT uses Windows Media Player since it became widespread in operating systems of the range Windows.

2. At emergence of desynchronization of subtitles (lag or advancing), after start of the program, it is necessary to make the following:
- open the file of subtitles in DSRT;
- select any phrase from the file of subtitles, then click the File menu, select the Video item (keyboard shortcut Alt + V);
- click "Synchronization" (this action will make it inactive) or use the keyboard shortcut Alt + C;
- find video fragment which would be combined with the selected text of subtitles, click "Shift", then click "OK".

3. At emergence of epizodny desynchronization, for example, the text of subtitles in general goes synchronously, but in some moments slows down or gives acceleration, it is necessary to make the following:
- open the file of subtitles in DSRT;
- put the mouse cursor on the first phrase and mark its (keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F2);
- put the mouse cursor on the last phrase and click Ctrl + F2 (phrase tag);
- click the top Script menu, then select the Retaymirovat item (F5 hot key);
- enter shift coefficient for phrases which were noted by markers;
- two times click on a tag, select the Shift item, then click "OK";
- click "Retaymirovat" for completion of shift.
