For connection to the Internet the IP address – static or dynamic is assigned to each computer. How to fix it that there were no problems with access to the network?
Instruction
1. Check terms of the contract which you signed with the provider at connection to the Internet. Learn whether there is an opportunity to assign to you the dynamic IP address, or you should sign the new agreement that the static address was assigned to your computer. However after that you need to provide the raised security level. Both for the computer, and for the IP address.
2. Use services of attachment of a domain name to the dynamic address. They are available in network (free of charge) or at provider (for a fee). Select to yourself a certain address and bind it to the to dynamic IP.
3. If you want to assign the user account to the specific workstation (that is to the specific IP address) to exclude an input on it from other computers, you should have rights of the network administrator for this purpose. Open DirectAdmin, pass on "Properties of the user", select the Input on tab. Enter the names of all computers from which the user can get access to the account. Fix the addresses by means of a command (example):

4. If at you several home computers are united in the general network via the router, then to prevent the conflict of the IP addresses, change its settings. Write for each computer the address (with a difference in one digit). For example, if the router distributes the addresses from network 192.168.1.1, then you will have to enter:
- on the first computer:
192.168.1.2 (necessary to you IP)
mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
- on the second computer:
192.168.1.3 (necessary to you IP)
mask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
5. If you need to fix the address for rather short term, then be connected to the Internet, transfer dynamic IP to static in settings of network connection. After that do not interrupt connection with the Internet until you are interested in that the address was fixed.
