1. For a start make sure that you got access to the root user as all actions are carried out from his face. For receiving this access to consoles enter login root. Do not forget to use the official server with a collection of ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/packages ports. After that be defined by means of what program you will carry out installation.

2. For start of the Sysinstall utility enter the following line into consoles: / usr/sbin/sysinstall. Then open Configure, Distributions, Ports (click respectively 3 keys: 2 times of Enter and 1 times "Space") also select a way of loading of a collection of ports (the Internet protocols, a flash media, compact disks, etc.)

3. One more utility on installation of ports is programs of PortSnap. For this purpose again log into the system under the login root. Load ports, having entered into the portsnap fetch console then extract ports in at start in the line ""portsnap extract"". If the last command was executed earlier, start update (portsnap update). Setup of updates of ports for time frames is also possible. For this purpose take place in directory/etc/crontab and enter the 0 3 * * * root/usr/sbin/portsnap cron command (update once a month).

4. For installation of ports using the CVSup utility for a start enter under the login root. Copy file/usr/share/examples/cvsup/ports-supfile in any other directory then edit it. Change CHANGE_THIS.FreeBSD.org value for the address of the next CVSup-server.
