The profile can be named the supporting file for the driver of the installed printer with the *.icm or *.icc extension allowing to determine color mixture parameters for transfer of necessary color.
Instruction
1. Make sure of need of creation and use of a profile - according to the experts, in most cases (about 95 percent) use of compatible ink and different types of photographic paper provides necessary parameters of a color rendition. Profiling, generally is necessary for professional photographers and designers when printing difficult and high-precision black-and-white photos. Modern printers provide the printing quality capable to satisfy the most exacting users.
2. Use several different programs or try to change settings of the printer for achievement of necessary printing quality. Try several different types of photographic paper for determination of desirable effect of a color rendition.
3. Make sure of correctness of calibration and profiling of the monitor of the computer. Color can change depending on settings. Remember that the maximum effect is reached not by use of ready profiles, but production of an individual profile under the specific printer.
4. Open a context menu of a necessary profile by click of the right mouse button and specify the Install a Profile command for execution of installation process or create copies of all files with the .icm or .icc extension in the system folder intended for saving color profiles:
- imya_diska: / Windows/system/color - for Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows ME;
- imya_diska: / Windows/system32/color - for Windows NT;
- имя_диска:/Wndows/system32/spool/drivers/color - for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
5. Open the File menu of the used print routine and specify the Printing point for application of the installed profile.
6. Execute clicking of the Properties button and use the option "Expanded" on the Main tab of the opened dialog box.
7. Specify desirable permission and select the corresponding type of the media. Apply a checkbox in the field "Without color correction" in the Color correction group or specify ICM and apply a checkbox in the field "Without color correction" (depending on printer model).
8. Confirm the choice with clicking of the OK button and return to the Printing menu.
9. Specify the installed color profile and confirm application of the selected changes with clicking of the OK button.
