MX record is called information on what IP addresses of the accepting e-mail servers correspond to any given domain name. This information on the domain name server (DNS) is stored, and it is possible to find it by means of the nslookup utility.

Instruction
1. Enter the command line. In the Linux operating system when using of the text interface of it it will not be required to make any additional actions (except input of the login and the password if it it was not made earlier). If you use any given graphic cover (for example, Gnome, JWM or KDE), start one of the terminal emulators which are available in a system. It can be, in particular, Konsole, rxvt and xterm. All users therefore it is for this purpose optional to log in under the root account can start the nslookup utility.
2. Also in Linux it is possible to pass into the command and lower case mode, having clicked the CTRL keys-Alt-F2, and then if it is required, having entered the login and the password. For return back enter the logout command into the graphic interface, and then click Alt-F7 and if it did not help - Alt-F5.
3. In the Windows XP operating system for transition to a command mode click "Start-up", select the Execute item in the menu, and then enter the name of the cmd executable file. In Windows 7 click with a logo of the operating system, then enter cmd in a search box. The cmd.exe file will be found automatically - it will be necessary only to select it, and it will be started.
4. The nslookup utility both in Linux, and in Windows is installed initially therefore it will not be required to download any programs. The syntax of its keys in both OS is identical. Start it as follows:
nslookup - type=mx server.domain, where server.domain - a domain name.
In reply you soon obtain all necessary information. In the displayed list pay attention only to those lines at which there is a combination of the letters mx - it is data on the servers intended for reception of mail. Information on other servers is not necessary to you.
5. If the session in the command line was started in the window mode, copy all necessary data in a clipboard, and from there - in any text editor then close the console. During the work in a text mode you should rewrite the obtained information manually. To avoid it, use such design:
nslookup - type=mx server.domain> text.txt
The data displayed by the nslookup utility will be copied in the text.txt file (it is possible to call it and in a different way).
