The vast majority of users work on the Internet under the HTTP protocol, using any given browser. However many resources provide also access on FTP that happens very conveniently. Knowledge of how to use this protocol, will allow to use resources of network more effectively.
Instruction
1. Many servers give an opportunity to use FTP via the normal browser. Nevertheless, for convenient use of FTP resources the FTP client is better to install. For example, you can download very convenient CuteFTP program in network or use the famous manager of the Total Commander programs, in him there is a FTP client too. You can download the CuteFTP program from the official site of the developer: http://www.globalscape.com/downloads/cuteftppro.aspx.
2. Download and install CuteFTP. As you use the trialny version, at start you will be asked to enter a key (it can be found in network). Enter it or click ExcelProdolzhit". The window of the installation wizard of connection will open. Put a birdie at line Do not show this warning again and click "Further".
3. In a new window enter the address of a ftp-node to which you want to unite in a top margin. For example, enter this address: ftp:// 62.152.55.238 – you will be able to download from it one of the Linux distribution kits (ALTLinux). In a bottom margin give a node any name. Click "Further". In the next window select a way of an input – "Anonymous". It is used for an input on the majority of ftp-servers. The user name and the password in this case should not be set. Click "Further", there will be a connection to the ftp-server.
4. When viewing data on the ftp-server you will work with the same directories, as on your computer, that is with normal folders. After connection to the node stated above open pub directory, then distributions – ALTLinux. Select the last distribution kit – 5.1. Then - iso: exactly here the image for record of the setup disk is stored. You will see the archive file which you will be able to download, having just dragged a mouse in the left window of the program, in any of your folders.
5. During the work with Total Commander for connection to the necessary node select in the menu: FTP – New ftp-connection. Enter the address and click okB the left window of the program folders of your computer, in right – a server directory will be shown.
