Opening and the correct setup of ports allows to reach the high speed of the Internet for this Internet channel. The correct exposed value of port is keyword parameter when downloading data through any given program. The necessary port can be opened by means of a standard firewall of Windows or via the console.
Instruction
1. Open the program through which you execute loading of files or viewing the Internet, turn into its settings. Find value of port in options of network and change it to any other. Select gateways with numerical value more than 40000 because the others are most often closed by provider of the Internet. Some programs (for example, uTorrent) have the button for automatic generation of port or an option of the accidental choice of value.
2. Save the changes made to the program and pass into the Windows Control panel. For this purpose open the Start menu - "Control panel". In the appeared window select the System and Safety item - "Windows Firewall".
3. In the left part of the appeared window click the link "Additional Parameters". On the new screen select the Rules for the Entering Connections item - "For port". Enter the port number which was specified in the used program, click "Further". Select a line "Allow connection".
4. Also the firewall of Windows allows to allow any connections for a certain utility. For this purpose specify in the Rules of the Entering Connections window "For the program". Enter path to the executable file of the application and specify the corresponding parameters in a settings window of a fayervoll.
5. You can check availability of the port specified in the program ir of the help of special Internet resources or the command line. Pass into the Start menu and enter request of cmd in the search string of programs. Select the very first search result.
6. Enter the netstat command - a - n - o. This request will display the list of the ports opened and used at the moment and active connections. The port number is specified after a colon in the IP address. If the port is open and functions, it will be displayed in a console window.
