If you got used to work with several operating systems, know the rule that it is initially necessary to install the Windows platform, and then any other. If this sequence was broken, therefore, you need to add again the loader.

Instruction

1. Recovery of the loader will be considered on the example of any version of the Ubuntu operating system. For each version of this system the developers in addition to a standard disk, release a Live-disk which can be downloaded from the official site. With its help it is possible to load a system which will arrange temporary files in memory of the computer.

2. For loading of a disk image click on the following link of http://releases.ubuntu.com, select the version of your operating system, for example, of Ubuntu 10.04.3 and click the folder corresponding to this name. In it there will be a set of files. If you have a torrent client, it is desirable to use its services, namely to download the file with the iso.torrent extension.

3. Before downloading any find out a torrent file vendor of the processor if AMD — ubuntu-10.04.3-alternate-amd64.iso.torrent and if Intel — ubuntu-10.04.3-alternate-i386.iso.torrent. After loading of this image, it needs to be written on a disk on minimum speed.

4. After record insert a disk back into a tray of the drive and reboot. When loading click Delete, enter the menu of loading BIOS (Boot) and expose the drive as the main source of loading. Key F10, then Y or Yes.

5. At the first emergence of the menu of a Live-disk select the Check Files on a Disk item. Further select the Start Live item (do not select the Install item). After a while there will be a desktop of the operating system in which it is necessary to cause the Terminal program, having clicked the Applications menu and having chosen the corresponding command from the Standard list. Also "Terminal" can be started easily having clicked the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + Alt + T.

6. Enter the first command "sudo fdisk-l" without quotes and click the ENTER key. Below you will see the list of all sections. You should are interested only the section with the name Linux. As a rule, it is sda1 or sdb1, but there are also exceptions.

7. For mount of the system section it is necessary to enter the following command "sudo mount/dev/sda1/MNT" without quotes into the MNT folder. Do not forget about spaces, it is the in certain cases best of all to copy a line not to receive the message about wrong record. Pay attention that instead of sda1 there can be not only sdb1, but also sdc5 or sdb9.

8. Further you need to write the Grub loader in the MBR boot sector, enter the following command "sudo grub-install-root-directory=/mnt/dev/sda" without quotes. Here instead of sda there can be also sdb and sdc. At successful performing all listed actions in a window of the terminal the message about lack of errors should appear.

9. Reboot, having made the sudo reboot team in the terminal. The system will kindly ask you to remove a disk from the drive and to click the ENTER key. If when loading the computer on the screen the choice of systems is not highlighted, therefore, it is necessary to be loaded from a Live-disk again and in the terminal to execute the additional sudo update-grub command — output=/mnt/boot/grub/grub.cfg.
