How to set a tag

The tag of a disk is displayed with a drive letter and serves for definition of the necessary volume. The lack of a tag leads to emergence of value under the name "Local Disk". The sizes of a tag should not exceed 32 characters in the NTFS file system or 11 signs in FAT.

Instruction

1. In the last there is a possibility of the use of an upper case and only it. Unlike tabulation characters the space is always valid.

2. Come into the Start menu to execute operation of change of a grid of a disk and pass into "My computer". Specify the volume which is subject to change of a disk and key F2. Then enter necessary value of a new volume label in the necessary field and click the ENTER key for confirmation of command execution.

3. During operation use change of a tag of the selected disk or return to the Start menu to carry out the necessary procedure alternative by method, using the Editor of the Register tool.

4. Pass in "Execute", enter in the Open field regedit value to start utilities. Click "OK" for confirmation of performing operation and open a register branch. Make necessary changes to value of the @=DISK parameter of an imya_disk. Complete the work of the editor of the register to apply the selected changes.

5. Return once again to the Start menu, pass in "Execute" to execute operation with the help of the tool under the name "Command line" of change of a tag of the selected volume.

6. In the Open field enter cmd, confirm with clicking "OK" start of the tool. Enter such label value of an imya_disk in a text box of a command: tag. Click Enter for confirmation of execution of the command of change of a tag.

7. Use syntax of label/? to obtain additional information on a command which is used or use possibilities of simplification of automation and execution of process of editing the necessary parameter which is provided by customized applications, such as Disk Director Suite and Partition Manager.
