In case of reconfiguration of the network equipment or reinstallation of the operating system of the computer there is a need to again set the main gateway and parameters of DNS servers. It is required in order that the computer could get Internet access normally.
Instruction
1. Get access to settings of the router or the ADSL modem via which you go on-line or a local area network. Connect LAN port of the router and the network interface card of the computer then start the browser and enter its IP address into an address bar. This information should be in the instruction to your network equipment.
2. Enter the name of the account and enter the password into the opened form. As a result you get access to settings of the modem or the router. Pass into the section WAN, there find point with the inscription Server Address or "Main Gateway". Specify the required value of the gateway in this field. Pass to the Get DNS Automaticall point and remove a tick if you want to specify independently parameters of DNS servers then specify the IP address.
3. Click Apply or Save to save settings of the gateway. Restart the router that the saved data became effective. If you go on-line directly from the personal computer, then settings of the gateway are changed in the Network and Internet menu.
4. Press the Start-up button, select the section "Control panel" and pass into the Network and Internet menu. Come into "Control center of networks" and dig out the Change of Parameters of the Adapter point. Select an icon of the network interface card for which it is required to set the gateway and network settings. Click on it with the right mouse button and select the Properties function.
5. Pass to the Internet Protocol of TCP/IP point and click "Properties". Put a checkbox near the inscription "Use the Following IP Address". Specify the current IP address of your computer in networks and the main gateway. Save settings of the network adapter then update of network settings will begin. Check that the Internet appeared. For this purpose it is possible to try to load any page in the browser or to propingovat network.
