To set up some network equipment, in most cases it is required to configure gateways independently. For disconnection of a certain device from network it will be simpler to switch-off the gateway by means of which it is connected to the Internet.
Instruction
1. Open the main menu of the main settings of the router on your computer. For this purpose start any browser of the Internet on other computer which is previously connected to your network equipment. Write the IP address of the router and key "Enter". Enter a user name and the password. You get access to settings of the attached device.
2. Completely switch-off all networked PCs (as necessary), having turned off connection of the Internet with the router. For this purpose come into the Status menu ("Status"). Find information on a status of connection with the Internet. Click ("Disconnect") "Disable".
3. If you to be necessary to disconnect the specific device from network or the Internet, open the menu of additional parameters. Come into the section "Route Table" ("routing table"). Select necessary local port and delete all routes intended for it. This action will allow to remove settings for static routes. If the DHCP function remained active, all computers can contact the Internet.
4. When using the router of ASUS open the Status menu. Find the list of the devices connected to this router and the scheme of network. Select the name of the computer or laptop from the list and set the parameter of "Disable" for it ("Disconnect"). Be attentive: shutdown of the gateway are in such a way recommended only if networked PCs are connected to the router via hubs (several computers are connected to one port of the router). If the computer is directly connected to LAN port, just open connection, having pulled out the network cable from the power supply. The gateway will be switched-off automatically.
5. Enter the MAC address of the network interface card of the computer into the routing table if it is necessary to disconnect a certain computer from network for long time. Set Disconnect value for the MAC address. For activation of change of settings reboot the router.
