Shutdown of indexation does not belong to the operations recommended to Microsoft. At the same time, the ban of indexing is not the prohibited action. The shortage of random access memory can force the user to resort to shutdown of indexing of pages. At the same time the retrieval service, of course, will lose in speed, but will maintain functionality.
Instruction
1. Click "Start-up" and in the search string print a command of "service" without quotes.
2. Open the dropping-out service menu by the right click of a mouse on a line of "Service" and select the section "Start on behalf of the Administrator".
3. Enter the password in the corresponding query field.
4. Select Windows Search in the scrollable list of a window of "Service".
5. Turn into "Properties" in the Action context menu. For this purpose use the right click of a mouse (or doubleclick) across the field of Windows Search for a menu call.
6. Select "Manually" in a drop-down menu of the section "Start Type" in the General tab of the opened Properties window.
7. Click "Stop" in the Status block.
8. Confirm the choice with clicking of the OK button and complete the work of the menu of "Service".
9. Return to the Start menu and pass into the section "My Computer".
10. Select the local disk С:\.
11. Open the service menu by the right click of a mouse on the line "Local Disk С:\" and turn into "Properties".
12. Deselect a checkbox from the Allow to Index Contents of Files on This Disk in addition to Properties of the File field on the General tab in the opened Properties window.
13. Confirm the choice with clicking of the OK button.
14. Lift a checkbox in the field of "To the Disk С:\ and to All Attached to Folders and to Files" in the new window "Confirmation of Change of Attributes" and press the OK button.
15. Make sure that work of Application of Attributes and Processing services are complete. On it you will be informed by the corresponding dialog boxes of services.
16. Repeat all above operations with each local and removable disk of the computer in turn. Process of shutdown of indexing is complete. Reset of the operating system of the computer is recommended.
