Simulator of playing a guitar: game or training

The popularity of simulators of playing a guitar seeded popular belief that, having achieved success in a game on the simulator, it is possible to pass with ease to the real tool today. However everything is not as simple as it seems.

Game and life

Today simulators of playing musical instruments and on guitars in particular became extremely popular. Games for the PSR and Xbox prefixes, different applications for mobile phones and tablets on Android and Windows base are created. School students, students, their parents and grandfathers – everything plunged into this musical game addiction. However surprises not love for similar simulators, but the extended opinion that they are capable to replace a real musical instrument any more or, at least, will facilitate transition "from a game in life". However it is necessary to understand that everything is not so simple, apparently, a game is a game especially as to learn to play it it is possible for several weeks. Music is the whole layer of art which is studied for years, since early age and finishing with a maturity.

Fingering, musical notation, ear for music

Contrary to judgments of those who consider that game simulators on guitars are capable to develop musical abilities there is enough the arguments confirming that the simulator not only does not develop the person in the musical plan but also alienates the player from the real tool. Toy guitars for the most popular game Guitar Hero only a form bear a faint resemblance to the real tool, differing from it in everything, beginning from material of the case and finishing it with the size. The lack of strings and the necessary quantity of frets, absence per se of sound extraction do a fake only by a toy. The player learns to press the buttons in time, develops attention and increases speed of reaction, however playing a real guitar requires something bigger.

First, simulators are not learned the musical notation which is the alphabet for each musician. With its study there begins any pupil, and he uses it throughout all the musical activity.

Secondly, the simulator does not teach the correct setting of hands and fingers on the tool, does not teach chords that for the guitarist – the most important.

Thirdly, simulators do not develop ear for music in any way. The player does not repeat a note, does not try to catch a tune, he presses the buttons shown it only in time. Coordination of movements and ability "listen" to music is what teach since childhood of any musician to.

Therefore if you want to learn to play the guitar, buy the real musical instrument better. Do not spend time and money for children's toys from which advantage only in pleasure and special effects. Real training much more difficult and more elaborately, than implementation of simple and plain rules of a computer game.
