The browser – the program intended for viewing pages of the websites of the Internet. Depending on functionality and an application interface safety and convenience of surfing of the user in network will change. There is a great number of popular observers, each of which is capable to offer the user unique features.
The first browser
Mosaic became the first program which appeared on computers for browsing the Web. Its development was stopped in 1997 because of increase of the competition and emergence in the market of essentially new applications, the first among which was Netscape Navigator which gave to users support of general standards of web pages and ease of use. On the basis of Mosaic Internet Explorer which was included in a set of standard applications Windows 95 was built. The product made success and dominated in the market before emergence of the alternative browsers offering not less qualitative and safe surfing.
Google Chrome
The browser from the world famous company Google can and did not become one of the first in the industry, but it quickly gained the popularity thanks to speed and simplicity of functioning, ease of settings, supports of various expansions (including popular Google services) and integration with one of the most popular searchers in the world.
According to some information today Google Chrome wins first place in the market among all other browsers.
Mozilla Firefox
Firefox is one of the very first browsers which appeared on modern desktop computers. The program deservedly is one of the most multifunction thanks to support of various plug-ins. Distinctive feature of the application is its safety for which it and gained the world recognition and was high on the list among all other programs for surfing on the Internet.
Internet Explorer
Today Internet Explorer offered by the Microsoft company considerably differs in functionality from the browser which was released together with Windows 95. Long time the program remained the leader among all Internet observers, however today IE share in the market of browsers considerably decreased because of the found vulnerabilities and problems with stability.
Other browsers
The Opera and Safari programs are not less known. The Opera product was developed in 1994 and long time held the first positions on the popularity thanks to such unique solutions as Opera Turbo and Opera Mini. Safari is the standard browser for the Mac OS and IOS operating systems and also has a large number of users because of the free of charge and stability.
For consoles and interfaces without graphic cover there are text browsers allowing to display web pages directly in the command line.
Today there are more than 100 programs for viewing pages in network which, however, did not become widespread such. The majority of the offered browsers is constructed on the basis of already available engine (for example, from Mozilla Firefox) and do not give to the user any new functions.
