Distribution of the Internet led not only to the fact that information became more available, but also to emergence of a set of new words and expressions which to understand happens not easy. For example, social networks added to an active lexicon of the word "blog", "repost", "repost".
Blogs, posts and reposts
The words "repost" and "repost" mean, in fact, the same, however to understand their value, it is necessary to get acquainted with a concept of blogs. Blogs are online diaries, that is the special websites on which each person can create the page and post photos, texts or videos.
The blog differs from the personal website in the fact that other users can sign up for updates and comment on records of each other. The word "post" appeared from the English to post that means "lay out", that is publish the new blog entry. Eventually all records began to call posts.
As a rule, program opportunities of the website on which blogs are had allow to copy automatically to themselves in the diary the pleasant posts of other users, at the same time the reference to the source is specified. Such copied posts are also called reposts. The system of reposts is favorable to both participants: as to the author, and the one who copied original record.
It is necessary to distinguish a repost and citing. If the repost copies all record entirely in original design, then citing assumes embedding of the whole others post or its part in the author's text.
To the author it adds popularity, and it is the most valuable capital in blogs. As for the user who made a repost, he receives interesting contents in the diary, without spending time for writing of a post. Now many users do not make independent entries at all, being limited to numerous reposts. Nevertheless even such "secondary" diary has readers.
Other social networks
On social networks, such as Facebook, VKontakte, "Schoolmates" and other, the main emphasis is placed not on production of original contents, and on communication. However and here on the pages the users regularly publish short records, the statuses interesting to news. Besides, there are communities and groups in which there are regularly new contents corresponding to their subjects.
The Twitter microblogging service, the size of messages in which is limited to 140 characters, gives too an opportunity to do reposts, the truth here they are called "retweets".
If the user of social network wants to share any news, a phrase or the picture from the information tape with the friends, then he can make a repost, having just pressed the corresponding button. As a result, all his subscribers will see this record with the active reference to the source.
