How to make sbiten in house conditions

The ancient drink widespread among east Slavs which part water, honey and spices is is called sbiten. Distinguish hot and cold sbiten: the cold beverage will help you to satisfy thirst in hot day, and hot sbiten possesses the warming and anti-inflammatory action.

It is required to you

  • - honey - 4 tablespoons;
  • - dried mint - 0.5 tablespoons;
  • - spices - 1 tablespoon (a carnation, cinnamon, camomile flowers, ginger, cardamom and others to your taste).

Instruction

1. At the moment there is a set of recipes for sbiten with herbs, spicery, cherry and currant. Sometimes add also such unusual ingredient as horse-radish, however classical components of any sbiten are water and honey.

2. In a small bowl connect a camomile and mint. Meanwhile boil water (best of all to take spring or key). If water is very soft, then drink will receive a peculiar taste. Instead of these herbs it is possible to use various spices: cinnamon, cardamom, a carnation and ginger in any combinations and various proportions. The sbiten made from these spices and herbs will help with prevention of cold.

3. Fill in the prepared herbs with the boiling water, and then leave for 1 hour that sbiten could infuse. 1 hour later the turned-out broth filter by means of a sieve or usual a gauze, then warm up a little and add honey. Sbiten should be stirred well that honey was dissolved.

4. Remember that water at dissolution of honey strongly doesn't need to be heated, otherwise honey will lose all the useful substances and drink just will become sweet weight.

5. Hot sbiten needs to be poured on cups and to give to a table. Sbiten is capable to improve health, will warm and also will give to cheerfulness much more, than tea or coffee.

6. Fine addition to such drink as sbiten, there can be various sweet delicacies, let us assume, dried fruits and candied fruits, nutlets, jam, jam, jam or gingerbreads.
