How to make tasty home-made kvass

For a long time in Russia love kvass. Of course, now this drink can be bought in any shop. But whether there will be it present? And what if to make kvass by the hands from the simplest and natural products?

Even the most usual kvass can be made absolutely differently. But the basis is invariable: bread, yeast and sugar. And additional components in the form of a lemon, raisin, berries and herbs will only emphasize all variety of this drink.

Traditional grain kvass

It will be required: 3 liters of water, 2 tablespoons of raisin, 1 long loaf of a rye bread, 1 glass of sugar, 20 g of yeast.

Dry the bread cut by pieces in the microwave or an oven. At this time boil water. Fill in the croutons which are laid out in a pan with boiled water, cover and leave to cool down. Then, water should be filtered, added other ingredients (sugar and yeast), to stir before dissolution and to put to the warm place for 10 hours. In previously prepared clean and dry banks to fill the washed-out raisin, to pour in ferment, to close covers and to send to a cold spot for 2 days.

Kvass with a lemon

Ingredients: 3-3.5 liters of water, 400 g of a rye bread, 20 g of yeast, half of a lemon, 1 glass of sugar, 1 tablespoon of raisin.

As well as in the previous recipe to make croutons. Lay out them in a pan and fill in with cold boiled water. Cover and leave to infuse within 5-6 hours. Then to filter, add yeast, the sugar and juice which is squeezed out of a half of a lemon. Mix, cover and leave in the warm place for 6 hours. Then, filter kvass and pour in the prepared container not to the very top. Add the washed-out and dried raisin to each capacity on a handful. Close covers and remove to the cool place for 2-3 days.

Kvass from a dogrose

It is required: 3 liters of water, 0.5 kg of a dogrose, 15 g of yeast, 1 glass of sugar, 2-3 slices of a rye bread, lemon half.

Wash out, knead and mix hips with sugar. Fill in with boiled water, add the bread and yeast divorced in warm water, lemon juice. Stir, cover and put to the warm place at several o'clock. Then to filter, pour in capacity, to close and put in a dark, cold spot for 3 days.

Kvass with a thyme

Ingredients: 1 liter of ready traditional home-made kvass, 20 g of a dried grass of a thyme, ¼ glasses of sugar.

Preparation: To pour in 1 glass of kvass in a pan, to add a dried thyme, sugar, to boil within 2 minutes. Pour in other kvass and leave to infuse within 10-12 hours. Further to filter, pour in a container and to put during cold for 1-2 days.

Kvass with caraway seeds

It is required: 3 liters of water, 500 g of a rye bread, 1 glass of sugar, 1.5 tablespoons of wheat flour, 1 tablespoon of caraway seeds, 15 g of yeast.

From bread to make croutons. Fill in them with boiled water and leave at the room temperature at 4 hours. Then to filter, add the sugar, caraway seeds, yeast divorced in warm water with flour. Mix and leave in the warm place for 12 hours. Again to filter and pour in net tanks. Close covers and during cold for two days.
