Spread instead of a desi: pluses and minuses

Recently as replacement of a butter and margarine spreads – the products containing animal and vegetable fats, but distinguishing smaller amount of cholesterol began to use great popularity.

Spreads quite often consider something, similar to a desi according to contents and a form, however they differ both from oil, and from margarine. In difference from the last the spread can be eaten without preprocessing, for example, just smearing on bread. As a matter of fact, the initial translation of the word "spread" from English means "pasting". Comparing spreads to a traditional desi, it is possible to mark out both positive, and negative differences.

Pluses of spreads

It is possible to carry the lowered cholesterol content to one of the most important pluses of spreads. The spread as food product appeared exactly thanks to development of dietology and initially was on sale in pharmacies as useful substitute of a desi. Besides, the vegetable oils which are contained in spreads are a useful source of vitamins and minerals.

Important advantage of spreads is that on them it is possible to fry vegetables and meat. Frying on a desi is harmful as at strong heating of a squirrel of animal origin are turned and, subsequently, have negative impact on walls of vessels of the person. As spreads contain vegetable oils (olive, sunflower, palm), frying on them doesn't make such impact on a human body.

Spreads with success can be applied when cooking as replacement to margarine. Margarine which is applied at pastries can give not the most pleasant, slightly bitter smack while the spread with higher content of animal fats, will make dough more tasty. The last important plus of spreads is their lower cost, in comparison with a usual desi. As at production of spreads vegetable oils are applied, process of production is considerably reduced the price that affects also products cost.

Minuses of spreads

Spreads have also important minuses about which it is worth knowing. Constant consumption of spreads provokes diseases of heart and walls of vessels because of availability of artificial trans-fats. It concerns, in the first turn, products having sunflower and olive oil in structure. Spreads of Asian origin with coconut and palm oils aren't sources of trans-fats and therefore can be applied constantly. Arguments the fact that producers often unfairly approach structure of a product and use artificial analogs of animal (dairy) fat in the course of production contra can be essential.
