In the American movies it is possible to see often how the hero drinks soda from a small bottle, extolling it. In practice soda nothing but … the usual sparkling water made with use of standard baking soda.

Understand a kind of the soft drink framed on the basis of the mineral or flavored drink saturated with special minerals and carbon dioxide as soda. Sparkling water was used as medicamentous medicines about 7-8 centuries BC. For the first time Joseph Priestley from Great Britain could create artificially sparkling water. In 1767 he made a number of experiments with gas which was emitted during fermentation of beer. And in 1770 the native of Sweden Tobern Bergman on the basis of Priestley's experiments created the specialized device - a carbonator which allowed to add carbon dioxide and other minerals to usual water.

In thirteen years in Great Britain industrial production of mineral and sparkling water began. The businessman Jacob Shvepp on the basis of Bergman's invention invented the installation allowing to saturate water with minerals commercially. Production of such water cost very much therefore at the beginning of the 1800th years began to apply baking soda to creation of sparkling water. Quite so there was a name "soda". The novelty attracted great interest of British, and soon soda began to dilute alcoholic beverages. Shvepp, seeing the increasing popularity of drink, I created own company which trademark was everything known a Schweppes. In the USA, soda was on sale and on sale in bottles to this day, and in other countries it is used from the automatic machines standing in cafe and various bars. Till 1917, sparkling water was considered as destiny of misters, called it Seltzer as took it from a source of Niderselters.
