Essential oils were long since used in many spheres of life of people. Ancient doctors knew their salutary abilities, beauties with their help looked after appearance, applied as aromas. Today we will talk about oils and their properties and also combinations.
Types of essential oils
For a start we will understand, what is it.
Essential oil is the insoluble oily liquid in water which is formed in plants, most often not having colors, but having the expressed aroma.
Despite oiliness, these substances not fat also do not leave spots, at contact with air they disappear. Extract substances by various methods:
- anfleurage;
- extraction;
- cold pressing;
- distillation.

Medicinal and cosmetic properties
Radio liquids have rich structure which defines their medicinal and cosmetic properties:
- antimicrobic, bactericidal (anise, carnation, juniper, mint, not roles, patchouli, fir, sandal-wood tree, fennel, sage, eucalyptus);
- anti-inflammatory (camphor, lavender, camomile, eucalyptus, tea tree, fennel, carnation);

- expectorant (the anise, devyasit, a fir-tree, a thyme, fennel, a pine, an eucalyptus);
- sedative action (orange, melissa, lavender, sandalwood);
- diuretic (birch, juniper, marjoram, rosemary, lemon);
- the regenerating action (cedar, incense, tangerine, carrots, camomile);
- styptic (geranium, cypress, muscat, marjoram, yarrow);
- bile-expelling (melissa, marjoram, lemon, carrots);

- toning (an anise, a basil, an immortelle, a verbena, a geranium, a ylang-ylang, a rose);

- sekretorny (bergamot, ginger, geranium);
- bleaching (a lemon, carrots, parsley, a sandal-wood tree);
- moistening (orange, parsley, a rose, a camomile, a sandal-wood tree);
- rejuvenating (carrots, a muscat, a lavender, a rose).
Methods of application
Use of essential oils is various:
- massage;
- cosmetics enrichment (cream, lotion, mask, srub);
- bathtub with oils;
- aromatherapy;
- inhalation.
Independently flying liquids do not apply as they too concentrated and can cause a burn, but there are several exceptions. In pure form on the small area of defeat outwardly it is possible to apply such oils:
- patchouli from stings of insects;
- lavender at burns;
- tea tree from eels or gnoynichok on face skin.
The others add in a certain quantity to a basic component, most often to a fat basis. As they are applied in specific cases, we will consider in details below.
Baths and bathtubs
Bathtubs and visit of a sauna (bath) with radio substances will help:
- to take off muscular fatigue;
- to relax;
- to strengthen immunity;
- to improve blood circulation;
- to reduce pains at problems with joints and a backbone.
Basic rules of acceptance of an aromavanna:
- to accept on a clean body;
- water temperature has to be no more than 38 °C;
- duration is no more than half an hour;
- regularity — no more than three times a week;
- essential oil can be added to sea salt, to base oil, milk, serum, honey;
- after the procedure it is possible to be rinsed with clear water, detergents do not use;
- to body allow to dry after the procedure independently.
Recipes:
- For clarification of airways — a cedar, an eucalyptus, a fir-tree in a proportion 4:6:4.
- Improving blood circulation — a cypress, grapefruit, nutmeg in a proportion 4:3:1.
- The help at osteochondrosis — on three drops of a pine, firs and lavenders.
- Soothing — on 4 drops of a lavender, geraniums, a sage and 8 drops of a sandal-wood tree to mix with honey.
If preference is given to one type of oil, then add 8-10 drops of substance to base (100 ml).
In the ban on the top shelf put the heat-resistant container with water of 100 ml to which add 10 drops of oil or mix. It is also possible to sprinkle walls and regiments or a bath broom.
Duration of bathing procedures begins since three minutes and increases gradually up to 20 minutes.
Massage
Rules of an aromamassazh:
- oil has to be suitable for massage to the patient;
- for prevention it is enough to add two drops of radio liquid to basic mix (5 ml);
- in the medical purposes add 4-5 drops of oil on a basis (5 ml);
- the session is held by generally stroking semi-circular touches;
- after the session it is necessary to spend 15 minutes it is immovable;
- upon termination of a session the cold within an hour is contraindicated.

- at cold for chest grindings — an eucalyptus, mint, a tea tree (5:5:2).
Important! The procedure of massage has some contraindications: it is a number of illnesses — skin, warm, bodies of a GIT, mental and others. Before agreeing to a massage session, consult with the doctor not to do much harm to themselves.
Inhalation
By means of inhalations the withdrawal of phlegms from lungs and bronchial tubes improves during viral and respiratory diseases, nasal bosoms are cleaned, at infections of a throat pathogenic microorganisms are destroyed.
In the cosmetic purposes of inhalation apply to steam out skin and to prepare it for any procedure, for example, to deep cleansing.
There are two versions of the procedure: cold and hot.
Cold inhalations:
- From fabric or paper apply several drops of substance on a napkin.
- Inhale about 15 minutes.
The second option which allows application outdoors:
- To place medical mix in a glass bottle of the small size and to carry on a neck as a pendant.
- From time to time to inhale aroma of contents within 10 minutes.
Hot inhalations:
- In the absence of a special inhaler with a wide throat (bucket, a stewpan) pour into capacity liter of hot water.
- On this amount of water it is enough to add 3-5 drops of mix.

Lamps and aromakamn
The procedure consists in fumigating of the room and saturation by its medical or just weakening aromas.
Aromatization by a lamp:
- Before the procedure it is necessary to air the room, then to close windows and doors.
- In a bowl of a censer to pour water with the temperature about 55 °C.
- Add mix or one chosen ingredient to water in the ratio two drops of substance on 5 sq.m of the fumigated room.
- In 10 cm from a bowl with water place the lit candle.
- As required water is added (it should not evaporate completely).
Session duration — up to twenty minutes.

Aromatization by a stone:
- With porous structure apply about four drops of oil on a stone.
- The stone can be placed on a desktop, on the shelf, in any convenient location.
- When the aroma weakens, oil is applied again.
- For a pleasant smell of bed linen or clothes the stones or fabric sachets are put on shelves of a case.
Fragrant mixes:
- invigorating — orange, a carnation, a rose (on two drops);
- toning — on a drop of a bergamot, orange, cinnamon, a lemon;
- weakening — on a drop of a marjoram, a juniper, a lavender, fennel;
- from insomnia — on two drops of a sage, a melissa and a drop of a lavender;
- prevention of cold — on a drop of a pine, a sage, rosemary, a lemon.
