Window pleated curtains – stylish, practical and, the most important, inexpensive option for true judges of interior design. Indispensable plus is also the fact that the design without special work is mounted by the to hands. If to know the main nuances of technology of mounting, observing accuracy, it is possible not only to save on installation of pleated curtains, but also to get useful experience.
Why pleated curtains are necessary?
Installation of this type of curtains on windows is not only protection against the sun and others views, but also prerogative of the creative and understanding in interior design of the room people. To establish accordion pleats on windows – means, to make aperture modern, stylish and, of course, cozy. Besides, it not simply stylish, but available decision at the price.
Necessary equipment
Pleated curtains in the same way, as blinds, and rolled curtains fasten. Independent works on their mounting require the following stock:
- set of pleated curtains (are made to order by the necessary sizes, brackets go in set);
- various marking tools (pencil, tape measure, marker, level);
- screw driver;
- the perforator (it is necessary in option of fastening of curtains to upper part of brick or concrete slope).
Option No. 1. Fastening over glass/window
Choice of type of mounting
This mounting mode of pleated curtains can be executed, in turn, in two different options:
- the design is fixed on fillet over glass;
- the design is fixed on upper part of window opening.
For calculation of necessary parameters of products it is necessary to decide on mounting type in advance. So, recommendations to both types of fastening are described below.
- If accordion pleats are established in window opening on fillet, on both parties it is necessary to leave gap in 2 mm. On height the gaps can be in 4 mm. The meaning of such stock is in that the curtain was not hooked for design, functioning as it is possible more freely.
- If the fastening option to upper part of window opening is chosen, the sizes of gaps will differ. In this case on both parties it is necessary to leave 7 mm, above and below – up to 1 cm. In order to avoid mistakes the sizes are selected most carefully.
Installation works
The scheme of works on fastening of pleated curtains on glass/window is a little more difficult, than in two subsequent options therefore it should be separated into several stages:
- technology of mounting of design;
- marking of provision of brackets for fastening;
- drilling of openings and installation of dowels;
- mounting of brackets;
- marking of provision of subwindow support under brackets;
- drilling of openings under fixture, fixing of elements;
- fixing of the top eaves;
- mounting of the lower brackets in support.
As soon as the operating procedure is broken into stages, it is possible to start their performance. It will be so much simpler and more clear.
- At first the marking of fixing points of the top brackets is made. The minimum interval to wall (on condition of fastening on slope) makes not less than 7.5 mm. If mounting is carried out on fillet, the minimum interval of space makes 3 mm. Drilling by means of the perforator with drill on 6 mm can be necessary for work on slopes. Are hammered into the received openings dowel.
- Then by means of self-tapping screws, holders fasten. Self-tapping screws are twisted in plastic design without drilling.
- The next stage – mark of width of future curtain from below. It allows to set reference points for mounting of the lower brackets. The support enters assembly emphasis, the knot is put to surface then points for drilling under fixture are noted. From below for best accuracy it is necessary to nasverlit previously openings by means of drill in 2 mm. Fastening is made by self-tapping screws of 3.9х13 mm.
- After that the top eaves are assembled latched in the mounted top brackets.
- The final stage – mounting of brackets to subwindow support. You should not forget that cords pass from external, but not from the inside.
Option No. 2. Fastening on window opening (to wall or frame)
In what difference from option No. 1
The difference of this option from the first is that the design fastens on frame or on wall over window. Much this option is most preferable as it is far simpler to perform installation works on vertical planes, than on slopes. This way of fastening of accordion pleats will be optimum if the design is mounted outside of aperture.
Installation works
- At first it is necessary to mark the provision of design. It is important to observe symmetry of system of rather central axis. Tags become in places of mounting of fixture, the minimum space from edge of design makes 30 mm, maximum – 70 mm.
- If pleated curtains are located on external part of window opening, it is necessary to drill openings under dowel. If curtains are located on plastic frames, it is not necessary to drill. In this case self-tapping screws for plastic are used.
- Previously according to the same scheme the marking of arrangement of the lower brackets is made.
- Mounting of design to the PVC windows is made by means of self-tapping screws 3.9х13. On wall it is better to use self-tapping screws 4х35-4х40.
- Finishing stage – snapping of the top box in holders then the system is fixed in the lower support. Shnur, as well as in the first case, has to settle down outside, but not inside.
Option No. 3. Fastening on window shutter
Who will suit this option?
This way of fastening of accordion pleats does not mean use of any tools, except the normal screw-driver. There will be no drilling therefore it is not necessary to spoil window frames and walls openings. But there are also minuses here: fastening of accordion pleats in this case is made only on the opening shutters. On stationary designs this system will not rise.
Installation works
- At first on shutter of plastic window brackets are fixed. It becomes easily: fastening element is densely put on shutter in the necessary place. Any drilling.
- The second (it finishing) work stage – attachment of the top and lower eaves of accordion pleats to brackets. Self-tapping screws are for this purpose used, it is also not necessary to make any drilling / drilling.
It is important to know: if the stretch of design is insufficient, the pleated curtain will sag. For its stretch it is necessary to weaken screws in the lower holders, then evenly on both sides to tighten cord, having fixed by screws. Work on installation of pleated curtains on shutter of the PVC window can be considered complete.
