The minimalism in the 21st century represents certain protest against abundance of information, noise and chaos of big cities. Supporters of the direction give preference to purity, rest, not striking interior which refined simplicity creates the atmosphere of freedom and internal harmony.
Basic principles of minimalism
Main objective of minimalism is disposal of stuff in body, in thoughts, in surrounding space. Getting rid of unnecessary, the person gets, but does not grow poor.
The basic principles of philosophy of minimalism consist in the following:
- Happiness not in things. It in the person, in his relatives and hobbies. Things have property to be torn, to be lost therefore you should not become attached to material.
- Quality, but not quantity. It is better to buy some expensive, but good trousers which will serve several years, than three trousers which will wear out after several months of their carrying.
- Moderation in everything. It is worth thinking whether its energy is spent for unnecessary communications or useless classes by the person in vain. If someone has caused offense, it is better to tell directly it about it, than to cry at night and to be engaged in heart-searching.
- The main time and forces should be devoted to favourite business, but not the fact that it is forced and uninteresting.
It is worth passing to minimalistic style gradually, beginning from external to internal. It is necessary to begin with the room and clothes. It is worth analyzing what things are relevant and what lie without need. It is worth trying to distribute the property on 3 categories: whole, with defects, faulty. It is important to remember that it is necessary to sort only the things, without mentioning strangers.
Minimalism in the relations and thoughts
To refuse empty communications though it is sick, but it is necessary. If communication with the person does not bring joy, and on the contrary, devastates morally, it is worth thinking, it is possible at you different ways. It is necessary to leave in the life near what there is a wish to smile.
This principle concerns also thoughts. Not are obligatory constantly to be on positive. Each emotion has to be lived qualitatively. For this purpose trifles need to refuse gossips, experiences, doubts. If any situation occupies all thoughts in the head, it is worth thinking what can be made for its change. If there is exit – it is necessary to work, is not present – means better to relax and be focused on other, more important issues.
Minimalism in interior, food
Indoors with minimalist situation there are all necessary things, and not just "table, chair, bed". Just furniture in such room "is not heaped", and placed separately from each other. Thanks to it, freedom is felt, the look has a rest.
The minimalism does not accept the bright, irritating colors. For it it is far better quiet gamma (gray, black, white, cream), light than half tone.
Salt, sugar, spices should be added only to those dishes in which they are really necessary. Meat, vegetables and fruit have the taste therefore you should not kill it without need. It is necessary to eat food only when there is feeling of hunger. "for the company" it is better to refuse having a snack politely.
You should not confuse minimalism with asceticism which urges to leave only vital. The minimalism is in refusal of unnecessary trifles in favor of something bigger, what really is meaning of life.
