The traditional iron fittings for reinforcing of concrete structures has set of shortcomings among which there are big weight, susceptibility of normal and chemical corrosion, high heat conductivity. But, thanks to development of construction technologies, today for reinforcing widely use the high-strength nonmetallic armature from composite materials deprived of these shortcomings.

What is composite armature?

Composite armature is made of glass (fiberglass armature of ASP) or basalt (bazaltovoplastikovy armature of ABP) fibers which impregnate with chemical-resistant polymeric structure. Nonmetallic armature is made in the form of the rods having spiral relief. Length and diameter of rods are defined by construction standards.

Bazaltovoplastikovy armature differs in more high strength, than fiberglass, but also cost is much higher than it.

Advantages of composite armature

Composite armature, except excellent physicomechanical durability, is characterized by high chemical durability to all known hostile environment, including the gas environment, chloride salts, deicing reagents, sea water, etc. Strength tests show that time of operation of the building constructions reinforced by composite materials is more than 100 years.

Polymeric armature is widely used around the world, including in Japan where it is used for reinforcing of concrete structures with increased requirements to seismic stability.

Use of composite armature

Unique technical characteristics and lightweight cause broad use of composite materials for reinforcing of concrete structures in industrial, civil and road making. It is especially relevant to use nonmetallic armature for construction of the designs which are treated in use to action of corrosion and hostile environment including for strengthening of onshore facilities, reinforcing of the pools and tanks used in chemical production.


Fibrobeton - one of the most widespread materials in modern construction. In the course of its production as the reinforcing component add disperse fibers, so-called fiber to concrete. As fiber use pieces of fine steel wire, waste from production of nails, metal, glass or polymeric fibers. Fibrobetonny panels have the best functional performance, in comparison with normal reinforced concrete slabs. Addition of fiber increases durability and resistance of concrete to clinking, deformations, influence of moisture and low temperatures. Besides, fibrobeton has lower weight. The listed advantages provide universal use of fibrobeton at construction of precast and monolithic constructions.
