Peonies for the flower bed are chosen by those gardeners who love constancy. Because these perennial plants can grow on one place more than ten years. The main thing - is correct to look after them.
Peonies, as well as many perennials, demand for themselves thorough leaving. And it has to occur during the whole season, since early spring and finishing late fall. It will allow to achieve magnificent blossoming of peonies throughout long time. The main stages of care for these flowers on personal plot are watering, fertilizing and preparation for winter.
Watering of peonies
In general, peonies cannot be carried to hygrophilous plants. But nevertheless they badly transfer drought. Peonies water once in ten days, spending 10 liters of water for each bush. It promotes laying of flower kidneys and abundant blossoming next year. Especially attentively observe these requirements connected with watering in July and August. And in September the watering is completely stopped.
Not to wash away the earth around the main escapes, peonies cannot be watered in the center of bush. For this purpose better around plants to make small groove.
Fertilizing of peonies
Peonies very sensitively belong to various fertilizing. At surplus or lack of nutrients they begin to be ill.
Peonies feed up, since second or third year after landing. The first fertilizing is carried out in the early spring right after snow thawing. At this moment the plants especially lack nitrogen and potassium. Therefore peonies feed up urea and potash saltpeter, spending on 30 g of fertilizers for 1 sq.m. of the earth. After such introduction of fertilizer it is necessary to carry out abundant watering.
The next stage of fertilizing of peonies comes at the time of education and development of buds. For it use already any complex mineral fertilizer for flowers or infusion of mullein (1:20).
After the end of blossoming the peonies feed up superphosphate (20 g on bush) and potassium sulfate (10 g on bush). It will allow plants to ripen completely and to get properly ready for winter.
Preparation for winter
This stage of care for peonies begins at the end of September. At this time stalks on plants begin to dry up. They are cut off completely and destroyed. Under peonies the soil is loosened and powdered with wood ashes.
With approach of the first frosts of plant powder with peat or the rerotting sawdust. In the early spring this shelter is cleaned surely.

Since second year after landing of these flowers on personal plot watch that the upper bud of plants was in the earth. On loamy soils she has to settle down at depth of 4-5 cm, and on sandy – 6-7 cm if are more than earth over the upper kidney, then otgrebat it and if on the contrary, then pour.

In usual conditions the peonies blossom only for the third or fourth year after landing. At the same time on plants can be formed besides the main buds also side which by all means delete. They are pulled out when they no more pea. This reception will allow the main buds to develop and have the large sizes correctly.
