If you have decided to be engaged in beekeeping, it is necessary to get beehives. For the beginning beekeeper the good choice is considered strong, convenient in work also rather spacious beehive plank bed calculated on two dozen frames. Simplicity of the device and large volume give the chance to build beehive plank bed as soon as possible and without use of scarce materials. In such beehive it is quite possible to provide the main and auxiliary bee families.
It is required to you
- - boards;
- - wooden rails;
- - cotton wool or tow;
- - canvas;
- - fastening elements and accessories;
- - tape measure;
- - hacksaw;
- - hammer;
- - chisel.
Instruction
1. Prepare wood for production of beehives. Best of all boards from soft breeds of wood, for example from pine, linden or aspen are suitable for this purpose. Examine the prepared material and choose boards with direct fibers and as knotless.
2. Choose design, suitable for beehives. Distinguish one-wall and double-walled beehives. The second option is suitable for wintering of bees better. Its inhabitants can be in double-walled beehive even under snow. The normal beehive consists of the body beaten to it bottom, notch, priletny board, partition and couple of diaphragms. The sizes of internal space of beehive are defined by length and width of framework and also their quantity.
3. Execute front and back walls of your beehive double, and side surfaces can be unary. Best of all boards 25 mm thick will be suitable for beehive. Between walls of double design it is recommended to leave interval in 35-45 mm and to fill it with heater, for example cotton wool or tow.
4. On the top edges on inside of back and front walls do groove that it was possible to hang up framework. Provide the deaf partition which is densely adjoining walls and bottom in beehive. Depending on the size of auxiliary and main families the partition can be shifted to one or other party of beehive.
5. Between bottom and front wall of beehive make slot which will serve the lower notches. That size notch could be changed, prepare set of inserts bars. In upper part of front wall do for ventilation couple more of letok less.
6. In the lower part of beehive level with bottom attach priletny board 75-90 mm wide. This board will serve the bees arriving with production as peculiar airfield.
7. Make roof removable or opening on the loops attached to front wall of beehive. The roof has to have small inclination towards back wall. It is impossible to assume at all that water from roof flew down on the priletny board located below.
8. Establish in advance prepared framework in beehives and cover them from above with canvas. For the winter period warm each beehive special small pillows, having laid them on faces of framework. Such design of beehives will help to create the most comfortable conditions for dwelling of bees.
