In French the art deco means "ornamental art". Origin of style has happened in Paris, at the beginning of the 20th century.
The art deco – combines lines of modernist styles and neoclassicism. Lost popularity in the 60th years, the style has revived again at the end of the left century. Main lines of style
- Strict symmetry of forms. All objects in interior have to have accurate lines, bends, zigzags. This rule extends to all elements of interior: ornament, laying of tile, furniture.
- The lighting reminding natural. Such effect is reached by means of big mirrors, tile, glass objects.
- Gloss and smoothness of surfaces. In interior everything has to shine around: varnish or paint, metal, the polished wooden surfaces.
- Magnificent and expensive finishing materials. In art deco the use of cheap print or linen fabrics is inadmissible. Only expensive fabrics of exclusive coloring are used: velvet, brocade, taffeta with gilding and also real furs. Such finishing reflected by mirrors of the correct geometrical form creates magnificent rich situation.
- Ethnic drawings and exotic materials are welcomed. In interior skins of the African animals, snake and crocodile skin, hand-made articles from ivory are applied. Ornaments with east and Egyptian motives are appropriate.
- Effect of sunshine. Strips in the form of beams are present at art deco everywhere: on furniture upholstery, finishing, fabrics.
- Color palette. Style basis - the alternating black and white strips (in the form of piano keys). Except these color combinations the application of emerald, gold, ruby, sapphire shades is allowed. In the bedroom use of beige and chocolate or cream tone is possible.
- Furniture with roundish facades.
Registration of rooms in art deco stylistics
Walls in the bedroom or the living room are decorated with wall-paper with imitation of fabric, lace, use leather inserts. On wall it is possible to hang up textile panel. The mosaic from ceramics is applied to finishing of kitchen or the bathroom. The ceiling is trimmed with any materials. The main thing that the interior looked magnificently. Floor can be laid out parquet from exotic breeds of tree or marbled tile. The contrast of black and white colors is very popular.
Windows in rooms big and light, passing a lot of natural light. It is the best of all to curtain off them light translucent tulle or to leave open.
