Construction and repair: infrared heat-insulated floor

Advantage of heat-insulated floors is estimated in practice for a long time - it is the most comfortable type of heating of rooms at which streams of warm air are distributed most evenly. But use of infrared radiation will allow to increase considerably efficiency of application of heat-insulated floor and to make your house cozier.

What is infrared heat-insulated floor

The infrared heat-insulated floor looks as normal flexible mat 0.4 mm thick. These are two layers of high-strength plastic between which parallel strips of the karbono-graphite semiconductor, are soldered by the united copper-silver conducting grid transferring to these strips tension from normal current network to 220 V.

When giving tension the conductors begin to heat up and radiate long waves of infrared range which by the nature are identical natural which Earth receives from the radiation of the Sun. Infrared radiation freely and almost without loss passes through air, heating only opaque objects. The laid under floor coverings, infrared heat-insulated floor heats them, giving necessary heat to the room. As heat conductivity of graphite is quite high, and electromagnetic radiation is small, the electric power expense at such floor is slightly lower, than at normal heating systems.

Use of infrared heat-insulated floor

The infrared heat-insulated floor is rather simple in installation, its mounting will not take a lot of time. It can be mounted practically under any floor covering: linoleum, laminate, parquet, ceramic tile, at the same time tie for it is not required to be done. If to use it as the main option of heating of the room, it is necessary that not less than 70% of surface of floor have been covered with such film. At the same time it is desirable not to stack film to those places where there will be low furniture – in order to avoid overheating and failure of separate heating coils. Advantage of infrared heat-insulated floor is that if one of heating coils fails, it does not affect functioning of all system – it will keep the working capacity without the risk of short circuit.

Valid advantages of infrared floor

You should not believe blindly advertizing tricks and assurances of producers that infrared floor has set of advantages in comparison with normal analogs: air ionization, anti-allergenic properties and so forth, these advantages can be referred, generally to infrared heaters, but not to infrared floor. The fact is that long waves of solar spectrum do not pass through opaque objects to which also all floor coverings belong. It turns out that the film will heat only the covering adjoining to it on which warmly and it will be transferred to floor surface. At infrared heat-insulated floor the percent of transformation of electrical energy to thermal is approximately equal to 100%, as well as at many other normal heaters therefore consumption of power will be almost same.

But there are also those advantages which the infrared heat-insulated floor really cannot refuse. It is, of course, its low cost in comparison with the same cable systems, core self-regulating mats. It is universal and approaches under any coverings, especially under those which are most subject to deformations – tree and laminate. This floor is simple in installation and is economic – you will always be able independently to define what quantity of film and what width is necessary for you. Infrared floors are reliable and are not afraid of mechanical damages, the materials used for their production are not subject to corrosion, and high-strength plastic will endure also the building. One more plus – environmental friendliness, when heating such floors do not emit any toxic agents.

The infrared heat-insulated floor can also be mounted under wall and inclined coverings, to warm with it local sites of floor and walls – mirror in the bathroom, the place for dog.

How to lay infrared heat-insulated floor under ceramic tile

Thin mats of heat-insulated floor cannot be filled in with tie or glue for tile. You can mount it, having laid elements of floor of factory production on wooden or reinforced concrete blank and having stuck together them among themselves. After they dry, it is necessary to lay polyethylene film on floors and to fill dry charge, for example, haydite or polystyrene foam plates. Atop it is necessary to lay infrared heat-insulated floor, and then ceramic tile on glue. For fixing of layers screws self-tapping screws for sheet materials are among themselves used. It is rather difficult to execute this option independently when it is required to mount infrared heat-insulated floor indoors with big area.

Use of automatic temperature regulator allows to reduce energy consumption and to save up to 50% of its expense.

Many sellers of film floors recommend to stack over film sheet protection materials, and under it – heatreflecting. This option is more difficult, all layers of floor have to be reliably recorded among themselves, and when using screws self-tapping screws for GVL there is danger of damage of current carrying path of infrared heat-insulated floor. Besides, also the waterproofing of floor can be broken.
