Deytion – ornamental gustotsvetushchy long-term shrub which can be both evergreen, and deciduous. About 50 species of this plant cultivated generally in southern latitudes belong to sort of deytion. In its mid-latitudes began to grow up since the beginning of the 19th century as decorative culture with effective very long blossoming.
Description of deytion
Deytion (deutzia) represents upright or sprawling bush from 40 cm to 4 m high, evergreen or deciduous depending on grade. It is by the form very similar to honeysuckle, but the nature of blossoming strongly differs.
Flowers reveal on last year's escapes, have white or pink color without any aroma. Flowers are collected in inflorescences in the form of brush or sphere. Blossoming exclusively rich and long (1-2 months). Forming of buds falls on May or June depending on weather conditions. The beginning of blossoming falls on the second or third week after the termination of spring frosts.
Emerald-green leaves, dense, complete. Fruits represent box with seeds. Life expectancy – 25 years without change and the procedure of rejuvenation. Breeds seeds, shanks, layers and root offsprings.
Deytion is undemanding to the soil and leaving.
Types and grades of deytion
Graceful deytion – one of the few types intended for cultivation in midland. The low bush has height from 50 to 70 cm, flowers snow-white, 1.5 cm in size are collected in brush from 7 to 9 cm long. Blossoming lasting 1 month falls on June. Distinctive features of grade – compact form of bush, abundant blossoming, drought resistance, fitness to city conditions.
One of the most popular grades of graceful deytion – grade of Nikko differs in bush height up to 80 cm, the white colors collected in cones, blossoming in May or June.
The Amur deytion – the only look to which the most severe frosts do not do any harm. The bush has height about 1 m with smoothly curved branches. White flowers, are collected in brush. Annual blossoming, begins with three-year age.
The rough deytion – as well as the previous types, is well adapted for temperate climate. In severe winters can freeze slightly, but during warm season the died escapes quickly grow. Bush height about 1 m, flowers white or pink, are collected in brush up to 15 cm long and have the hand bell form. Blossoming very abundant is also necessary for the end of June.
The rough or star-shaped deytion has several grades.
The grade of "Captivity" is characterized by the upright form of bush 1 m high and gustomakhrovy flowers having the form of wide hand bells.
The grade of Kandissim differs in pink buds which then turn into the snow-white flowers collected in inflorescences whisks. The grade has low frost resistance therefore in cold season demands the shelter.
The grade "Pride of Rochester" has appearance of high upright bush up to 3 m high and up to 2.5 m wide. Blossoms in June in white terry colors.
Grade Marmorat or Marmorata has characteristic – white and yellow spots on green leaves.
Deytion magnificent (magnifika) has appearance of upright or slightly curved bush a little more than 1 m high. Blossoming continues 3 weeks and it is the share of the second half of June. White flowers, are collected in inflorescences spheres with a diameter of 10 cm. The weak frost resistance, needs the shelter. After severe winters the blossoming can and be absent in general.
From the known grades it is possible to call "Turbilon Ruzh". Difference of "Ruzha" in its height – from 1.5 to 1, 8 m. Blossoming is later and it is necessary for the end of June – the beginning of July. Large flowers, pink, various shades, are collected in inflorescences whisks.
Deytion Lemuana is provided by the grade of "Mont Rouz" having great frost resistance. The bush reaches in height of 2 meters, has the hanging escapes and large flowers with yellow stamens. "Stroberri Filds" or "Strouberri Filds's" more compact grade lower – about 1.5 m in height.
Deytion purple is adapted only for southern latitudes and in these weather conditions grows in height to 2 m. Flowers of lilac-pink color are collected in inflorescence shchitovidna on 1-3 flowers.
Deytion pink (rozea) – hybrid view with rather quite good winter hardiness. Compact, bush up to 1.5 m high. Flowers have the hand bell form, white, with pink shade, are collected in clustery inflorescences. The characteristic representative of look – grade Kampalunat.
The Dlinnolistny deytion has leaves up to 12 cm long. The bush grows to 2 m in height. White-pink, large flowers (2.5 cm), with purple buds, blossom from the middle of July.
Use in landscaping
In landscaping the deytion is used as the ornamental plant having effective exterior, dense flowers and the long period of blossoming. Some types are used for giving of forms of sculptures and forming of green hedges. So, for sculptures the deytion graceful and deytion rough grades "Pride of Rochester", well is suitable for green hedges – "Turbilon Ruzh", "Mont Rouz" and also all grades of deytion purple.
Landing, cultivation and leaving
Water-permeable soft soil of neutral or subacidic reaction with low level of underground water well is suitable for deytion. On personal plot it is better to put deytion on sunny side, in the place protected from wind. Before landing soil is fertilized nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, add microfertilizers, ashes and lime.
I plant sapling in the spring. Before landing several hours soak its root in water with growth factors.
Deytion needs watering only in dry and hot weather approximately once a week. On one bush pour out about 2 buckets of water. After watering or after rain the earth around plant is superficially loosened. In August the watering is completely stopped.
Feed up plant 3 times a year. The first time - mulch humus in the spring (5-6 kg on bush). The second time – liquid mineral fertilizer during blossoming. The third time – before cutting, mullein solution in concentration 1:10.
Several times during the season the bushes of deytion cut off. The first time – the frozen escapes delete in the spring. The second time – after blossoming do the rejuvenating and decorative cutting, delete adult trunks (age of 5 years and more), the dry and damaged escapes.
Before winter the deytion is warmed dry leaves and covered with impervious material. At decrease in daytime temperature to zero in addition wrap up with fir twigs layer.
