Today gas floor heating boilers are considered as classics, experts often call them the most conservative equipment. Having appeared in the market several decades ago, these boilers still are popular, thanks to the characteristics.
Types of gas heating boilers
There are two main big groups of gas floor heating boilers: the equipment with atmospheric torches and boilers with boost (or boilers with replaceable, hinged, ventilatory torches).
Each type of heating boilers has the advantages and shortcomings. So, boilers with atmospheric torches cost not much, and therefore are in demand in the wide mass of consumers. Operation of such boilers is allowed practically in any room, there is no need for additional sound insulation. The torch has no mechanical parts, and therefore does not depend on blackout, but it is sensitive to gas pressure in network. At pressure reduction the torch goes out, the system of emergency shutdown of supply of gas has to work.
The cost of boilers with boost is higher, but also efficiency at them raised when comparing with the equipment equipped with atmospheric torches. Torches in boilers of this kind practically do not feel gas differential pressures, but they cannot work at the disconnected power supply. It should be noted that such gas heating boilers are multipurpose – if necessary the torch can change, and the boiler will use liquid fuel. The replaceable torch of boilers with boost does operation of the equipment is longer as the torch can be bought separately (some models are in addition equipped with replaceable torch). Do not try to choose independently gas boiler of heating, only the expert will be able truly to calculate the power of the equipment and gas consumption.
However, consumption of gas is less at boilers with atmospheric torches, they are more compact, and therefore often are established in country houses, small rooms. They can be used also for periodic heating or maintenance of the set temperature, for full heating of the big areas boilers with boost will become optimal solution.
Features of gas heating boilers
The heat exchanger in boiler can be made of steel or cast iron, and today unambiguously to tell, what is best of all, any expert cannot. So, pig-iron heat exchangers are durable, but at the same time alloy differs in sufficient fragility, such heat exchangers can be damaged already in the course of mounting, and reduce life cycle even imperceptible to crack eye. Also cast iron is afraid of hard water and overheating. Steel heat exchangers could be considered as the ideal decision if not their susceptibility of corrosion. Floor gas boilers can be dependent and independent of electricity. Equipment selection in this case depends on stability of electrical supplies in your house. As a rule, electricity is necessary for the correct functioning of boilers of import production, though in this segment the equipment using only gas meets. Power supply is necessary, say, for ensuring automatic operation of the boiler, various additional functions, except maintenance of heat indoors, depend on power supply. There are boilers in which automatic equipment is provided due to availability of the thermal generator of the electric power – such equipment is capable to regulate without connection to network indoor temperature, say, depending on external conditions. The cost of such boilers, certainly, slightly higher.
Pay attention, at the boilers using natural gas and on liquefied different design features therefore it will not be possible to use one boiler on different fuel. Replacement will be required.
On power the floor gas heating boilers can be one-stage, two-level and with the power adjuster. Boilers with modulation (power control) have rather high initial price, but allow to save in use gas, thanks to adjustments. Also boilers with modulation are allowed to be used together with water heaters (boilers), and due to decrease in frequency of switching off of torch such boilers are more durable.
Installation of boilers
Any boiler has to be installed with observance of fire safety regulations. So, floor has to have fireproof covering, most often it is ceramic tile or concrete. Building in of boilers is not allowed, from all directions there has to be free access to the body and approaches for service. The gas boiler demands good plenum ventilation if natural it is not enough, additional devices are put or air vents become, their quantity and the size pay off on norm: 50 cm on 1 kW of power of boiler. It is impossible to establish independently gas heating boiler, any commission will not accept object in operation. Before installation it is necessary to undergo the procedure of coordination in the gas supplying organization and to call assemblers for equipment installation. Often commissioning of boiler is made by other crew. Once a month the gas equipment the serving organization will check, take readings of devices.
