Heat-resistant paint on metal: types and range of application

Housekeeping Hits: 111

The turned yellow or cracked paint does not promote esthetic appeal of the metal designs which are exposed to temperature influence in any way. Therefore it is important correct to pick up painting structure which the long time will protect product from action of heat and to decorate it.

One of the major criteria when choosing heat-resistant paint is temperature condition in which there will be metal goods. Therefore conditional division of paints of this sort on temperature intervals which can be carried to living or industrial conditions is accepted.

Household temperature loads

There are two temperature conditions: normal, allowing heating not over + 80C and area of small household temperature loads (to + 120C). In the first case it is possible to use any paint and varnish structures, the second means use of heat-resistant paint. Such structures have in the structure the modified mixes of acrylic, alkyd resins to which by production add the pigmentna which are not allowing yellowing of paint when heating. Heating radiators can be good example of use of heat-resistant paints in small temperature condition.

Both to household, and the average household mode belongs to industrial temperature interval. Here maximum safe load is in range from +120os to +200os. At the heart of the used paint and varnish heat-resistant structures – specially prepared acrylic coverings. The best option use of epoxy paint (for internal works) or mix of epoxy primer and zinc-phosphate is considered (the blue powder, polyurethane covering can serve as substitute of the last component). It is worth noticing that the structures maintaining this temperature range are issued in limited color gamma; most often it is set of 4-5 shades of red, red-brown, green or gray color. Possible range of application – the flues which are not "gathering" this limit of heating.

Industrial temperature loads

The following temperature range is ranging from +200os to +400os. Here structures on the basis of combinations epoxy-ether and ethyl - silicate pitches (single-component paints) in which instead of the heat-resistant pigments which are not maintaining high temperature metal powder is applied are widely applied. If heat-resistant paint of this type is used in rooms with small humidity, one layer suffices, otherwise the number of coverings needs to be doubled. The structure capable to sustain this temperature range, use when coloring, for example, of the metal flues located in steam room. More serious test for paint and varnish structure is temperature from +400os to +650os. Such loading is maintained by the structures developed on the basis of silicone pitches. As pigment use blue powder or aluminum powder. Feature of the coverings created on the basis of similar structures – thin layer (30-100 microns). It is caused by the fact that corrosive processes at such temperature do not affect durability of covering, and here the risk of rupture of coat of paint increases repeatedly. Paint with such reference specifications can be used for processing of furnaces; firing temperature of firewood is equal +300os, papers +400os. But it is necessary to consider that use of coal is already impossible since it can "disperse" also to +900os.
