Juicy and fragrant strawberry is favourite delicacy of children and adults and also one of favourite plants of gardeners. But to receive rich harvest of strawberry, it is necessary to know how it is correct to look after it, for example, how often this plant needs to be watered.

1. As the root system of strawberry is in surface layer to the soil, the plant cannot use the moisture reserves which have accumulated in deep layers of the earth. At the same time strawberry is considered hygrophilous plant: the ideal rate of moisture content of the sandy soil is 65%-70%, and on heavy soils it reaches 80%. After gathering berries the indicator of moisture content of the earth has to be equal to 60%-65%. Consider norms of watering: for the easy soil the norm of watering is 80-100 cubic meters of water on hectare, and here for loamy – 120-130 cubic meters of water on hectare.
2. Water strawberry regularly, without allowing at the same time long breaks. From-from lack of moisture during the critical periods of growth of plant (even within 10-15 days) the productivity significantly decreases. For this plant the drop watering is considered ideal. In turn the drop system of watering is differentiated as installation on the mechanism mounted in pipeline rupture (internal) and also system which is placed on the ends or side surfaces of pipes (end). At container or bag way of cultivation of plant give preference to drop internal system and if beds land – to the end mechanism.
3. For the first two weeks after landing of strawberry support soil damp (it is very important in order that the plant has well taken roots). For this purpose daily water strawberry (humidify the soil on 2-3 mm). Then the next two weeks water plant every other day. Remember that strawberry feels the increased need for water during growth of leaves (especially if the winter was low-snow). During blossoming limit watering, and here during maturing of berries and after harvesting resume intensive watering of strawberry. In hot weather water plant not less than 2-3 times a week.
