Carrots, perhaps, one of the most demanded vegetable cultures in Russia, hostesses add this root crop practically to each dish. More benefit to organism will be brought by the carrots which are grown up on own site, but are not bought in shop.
Of course, it will turn out to grow up root crop practically at everyone, but it will be possible to reap really rich crop only to those who know certain secrets of cultivation of carrot.
When to seed, everyone solves because, the purposes and terms at all different:
- Spring crops are carried out from April 15 to May 15. In this case in August it will be possible to reap crop.
- Summer crops are carried out from May 15 to June 10. The harvest will be approximately at the end of September, such option will be suitable for winter storage of root crops.
- Subwinter crops are carried out from October 20 to November 15. It is clear, that this way will be good for receiving early harvest.
It is known that the root crop is not too whimsical, but for receiving excellent harvest it is worth creating comfortable conditions. Gardeners should consider such moments:
- carrot loves the lit sites;
- the soil has to be average acidity;
- it is better to sow seeds where before tomatoes, potatoes, corn or bean grew, but not to sow on the former place of spicy herbs;
- not to plant this vegetable on the same place two years in a row.
There are various ways, all of them have merits and demerits. For example, crops of seeds in soil are the most widespread and easy way. Sowing material is scattered in holes. But shoots will not be uniform, and it is impossible to call expense of seeds economical.
Crops of pellety seeds will save time, but are of such material more expensive. Dragees in separate holes are sowed and well sprout as seeds are placed in nutritious cover.
The rolled method is considered the most economic and effective of all. For this purpose do strips of paper with the pasted seeds which is just placed in holes and watered. Carrots will ascend evenly, but later, than, for example, in the first option.
Irrespective of way of crops for the fastest emergence of shoots it is possible to cover bed with film for several weeks. So the soil will remain humidified, and weeds will not begin to disturb too.
Carrots, as well as any plant, it is necessary to fertilize. For the first time it is possible to feed up the seeded vegetable in month, for the second time – two weeks later from the first fertilizing, and in the third – at the beginning of August.
Suitable fertilizer for carrots – mineral on the basis of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus. Also, excellent fertilizing is solution of wood ashes, it contains a lot of potassium. It is necessary to water root crops each 2-3 days, but it is not too abundant. Throughout all time of growth of carrots it is necessary to weed and loosen beds.
