Beds with onions and garlic on useful properties replace all other kitchen garden. Your efforts on their cultivation will pay off wholly.
Soil
The rich harvest of onions and garlic can be grown up only on fertile soil. It is good if it loamy and on sour reaction neutral or alkalescent. On sour soils, onions and garlic, of course, will grow, but will not please with abundant harvest. In order that your works were not gone, choose well lit, solar place for onions and garlic. Most of all sublime sites which the first were freed from snow approach.
Onions and garlic well grow on beds after cabbage, carrots, potatoes, cucumbers, squash or pumpkin. It is strictly forbidden to plant onions and garlic on the same beds within four years. This results from the fact that in the soil the wreckers especially dangerous to these cultures remain.
The best fertilizer for onions and garlic — organic therefore before landing it is good to fill beds with humus: on 1 sq.m — one bucket.
Choose grades of garlic and onions according to your region. Surely carry out landings on to lunar to the calendar.
On the prepared bed make cross grooves at distance of 12-15 cm. Grooves need to be powdered with pinch of ashes and table salt. Before landing to wet planting stock for the night in potassium permanganate solution.
Fertilizers
Garlic and onions actively are distracted by fertilizing by superphosphate. For this purpose part 1 tablespoon of superphosphate in two glasses of warm water. Put to the dark place. Dilute solution in bucket of water and water plants at the roots. It is possible to act still simpler: scatter handful of superphosphate to bed between plants, powder with the earth and it is abundant water.
On beds with garlic and onions it is not recommended to bring manure as it is a little advantage of it, and weeds will grow with incredible force, it will be difficult to get rid of them. Besides introduction of manure leads to disease of onions and considerable decrease in harvest. From organic fertilizers it is the best of all to use humus (2 kg on 1 sq.m). From mineral fertilizers, besides superphosphate and potash salt, onions and garlic also well respond to ammonium nitrate.
